Help! New to wood stoves

I have a Performer wood stove, but I have 0 idea how to use it. I lit a fire, but the smoke just came back in the house. I don't know a damper from anything. The chimney was cleaned last year. I am at a loss. Help!!!

Ive read all over the place burning wood with fungi on it can cause some respiratory issues. Is there anything I can do while seasoning wood to remove that concern? Or is the solution pitch the wood with shrooms on it?

Homemade wood stove

I’m not actually gonna use it as a stove. It’s gonna be garden art but it’s a converted MK9 depth charge. I put a couple solar flame lights inside. Plus I’m covered of an enemy sub marine comes out of the woods and attacks my house.

Hafting me a sling blade, mmmm hhmmm

Sorry in advance if I am in the wrong sub, but which way would you all haft this old sling blade I am restoring (barn find ftw)!? Ignore the old harchet I am cleaning up.

Would you haft the blade like photo 1 or 2? I can’t decide. I plan to use it; it’s great heavy old steel. There are markings, some lettering, but it’s VERY faint. My educated guess is late 19th/early 20th century American. The markings may pop with the BLO. The unfinished haft is seasoned hickory I’ve been saving for the right blade to come along.

Dug up this cool axe head today but can’t find anything online. Anyone have ideas about this?

Update on this spearhead

The spearhead and arrowhead expert has finally, after more than six months, responded.

First things first: The archaeologist I occasionally contact when I can't immediately identify interesting finds told me this one was probably Late Roman, which is fantastic in itself, of course. It just keeps getting better; According to the expert, it's an EARLY BRONZE AGE spearhead, probably made in England. I found the spearhead here at a local farm, about a kilometer from where I found a bronze palstave axehead two years ago. (Belgium)
