This past weekend I had the pleasure of filming interviews with some of the amazing artists who participated in the FIRST event. If you are unfamiliar, Artful ATL is the biggest night of the year for emerging artists and collectors in Atlanta! There were 35 incredible emerging local visual artists and 4 dynamic DJs and a LOT OF COMMUNITY AND GOOD TIMES!!

Here are some BTS photos (in order of appearance) of a few of the artists I spoke with that day. The videos are coming soon so be sure to follow and all of the artists to check them out!

I spent last week in Austin, TX for a work trip. It was exhausting and I don’t normally have the time or energy to actually experience or see the city we are in. This was no exception BUT I was able to connect with someone I had been friends with online for a while and have purchased their art and had conversations. She actually lived in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA for a while while I was still there and frequented a few places I normally did as well. I’m sure our paths crossed before and we just didn’t know it. Finally we got to meet in real life and she did a quick mini tour and showed me some art and graff in Austin and it was a good time.

Another bonus was stumbling across a .dax piece while I was in Austin. Gotta love ART!!

Scroll to see the pieces I got from Samara and the piece by Dr. Dax.

Happy Black Filmmakers Day!!! Tag your favorite Black Filmmaker! (Indie or Otherwise)

On May 24, 1916 The Lincoln Motion Picture Company, the first movie company owned and controlled by Black filmmakers, was founded.

Created by brothers, Noble and George Johnson, Lincoln Films built a reputation for making films that showcased African American talent in the full sphere of cinema. The company was incorporated in 1917 and lasted until 1921.

In honor of the Johnson brothers and everyone who worked at the Lincoln Motion Picture Company and everyone who came after, I think today should be Black Filmmakers Day! Spread the Word!!!

NEW VIDEO!! (Link In Bio) presents . In this episode Mirage returns to the series to discuss her motivation for getting into framing, how it has made her become more of an “art snob,” working with a wide variety of artists, the importance of representation in the art community, not limiting yourself and more!
