Something magical is coming to the stage this summer! 🎭✨

This July, The Plaza Arts Center and The Arts Barn are joining forces to present an exciting production of Shrek The Musical featuring talented performers ages 15–30 in an immersive Broadway Intensive Program.

Over the course of just two weeks, participants dive into a fast-paced, professional-style rehearsal experience focused on acting, vocal performance, choreography, and stagecraft. Guided by Broadway veteran Henry Scott, these aspiring performers work tirelessly to transform the beloved story of Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and their fairy tale friends into a fully staged musical production.

What makes this program truly special is the collaborative environment created between younger and more experienced performers. Together, they build confidence, sharpen their craft, and create lasting friendships while learning firsthand what it takes to bring a Broadway-style production to life.

Performances of Shrek The Musical will take place July 9–12 and July 16–19, and tickets are on sale now at plazacenter.org. This family-friendly show promises laughter, heart, and unforgettable entertainment for audiences of all ages.

After 32 wonderful years in Great Waters, Don and Pat Turney are beginning a new chapter as they relocate to the Stone Mountain area of Atlanta. ❤️

Since purchasing property in Reynolds Lake Oconee in 1989 and building their home in 1994, Don and Pat have been deeply woven into the fabric of the community. From church involvement and music to golf, bridge, fishing, book clubs, and countless friendships, they embraced all that Reynolds had to offer.

Recently, friends gathered for a special farewell celebration following a spirited B3s golf scramble at Great Waters. The afternoon continued with lunch, laughter, memories, and a celebration of Pat’s 90th birthday at the home of Bucky and Barb Mazza overlooking the #10 green.

Throughout the years, Don shared his beautiful tenor voice with both Eatonton First Baptist Church and the Reynolds Chorus, while Pat devoted her time to children’s groups, book clubs, and community organizations. Together, they created a legacy of friendship, involvement, and kindness that will not be forgotten.

While they will certainly be missed around Great Waters, we know Don and Pat will bring the same warmth and spirit to their new community that they shared so generously here at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
