The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties was honored to welcome Past Rotary International President Mark Maloney for an inspiring program celebrating Rotary’s mission to eradicate polio worldwide, Rotary’s #1 global priority.

Maloney highlighted the incredible impact of Rotary’s work, from ending polio to programs like Alliance for Smiles, which provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries to children in underserved communities.

A huge thank-you to President Maloney and to all Rotarians who continue to live out Service Above Self, making a difference both locally and across the globe. 💙🌐

Thanks to the incredible generosity and teamwork at the WGA18 Chip In For A Cure tournament on Oct. 7, the Breast Health Fund at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital received nearly $100,000 to support local cancer care.

From pickleball fundraisers and raffle tickets to personalized pink flags and a lively silent auction, our community came together in a big way. Special thanks to all the organizers, donors, and participants who made this event unforgettable! 🙌

Gavin, a senior Biology major at UGA and medical scribe with Lake Country Medical Group, recently had a life-changing experience studying abroad in Belize as part of UGA’s “Health in Belize” program. 🇧🇿

From shadowing physicians in clinics with limited resources to helping in local villages, Gavin saw firsthand how compassion, teamwork, and resilience drive impactful care—no matter the setting. He says this experience reinforced why he’s pursuing a career in medicine: to connect with people and make a difference. 💙

Gavin’s advice? “Take the jump. Chase the opportunities that scare you a little—because those are often the ones that change you the most.” ✨

🎣 Kings of the Lake 2025! What a perfect day for fishing on Lake Oconee! Ten teams battled it out from sunrise to weigh-in at Linger Longer Marina, where cookies, cold drinks, and plenty of excitement awaited.

Congrats to Ron Pierson & Dick Wuori, the Kings of the Lake, with 13.11 lbs 🏆 — just 2.7 oz ahead of 2nd place! And a special shoutout to Ron for catching the Big Bass at 4.58 lbs. This year’s field brought in 19 more pounds of fish than the last two years with the same number of anglers — incredible!

Thanks to Reynolds Marinas for co-funding the prize money and making the day even better. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just love bass fishing, anyone can join the Lake Oconee Anglers — you don’t even need a boat!
