Have Y’all noticed the increase in the celebration of People “Who Look Like Me”? The CBS Morning Shows love using this term, to encourage little boys and girls who “Look Like” me… This is done Purposely because most of y’all aren’t paying attention!
The concept of “Black People” is first, an American concept starting in the 1960’s. Prior to that, we were Negroes, Colored, S**t prior to 1865 we weren’t even considered Human. So when a Black person reaches a level of success in America, it deserves to be celebrated. However, when you are a First-Generation American, born of Immigrant Parents (like Frances Tiafoe, like our Vice-President, etc.) you don’t carry the weight of centuries of American injustice in your DNA. When you are Bi-Racial (Like Ben Shelton, like our former President, etc.) Half of your DNA doesn’t even know what oppression feels like.
But they “Look Like” the people who used to hang from trees in the town square while the White folks posed for pictures. They “Look Like” the people in Tulsa Oklahoma who had their town burned to the ground (just 100 years Ago). They “Look Like” the people who lined the streets of Chicago in 1955 for the funeral of Emmitt Till. They “Look Like” the people who watched four LAPD officers get acquitted for the beating of Rodney King back in 1992… (Etc., etc., etc.)
This is why they love to present people who “Look Like us” instead of people who have “Lived Like us”. The American Negro is under threat of extinction, mark my words! 😎
(Disclaimer – This is not about hate of any particular group of people, I’m all about Love. I just love us “Reparation Babies” a lil’ more!) ✌️
