HER Social Life In Dedication to the Trans-Women that dared to BE, Paved the way for those today to walk the streets as THEMSELVES

11/06/2024

My friends, there will be lots of doomscrolling and emotional posts today and this week. Love on yourself and your people today, extra hard. Be gentle with each other. Take the time you need to process. And remember, we are a resilient people and will get through this somehow. With that being said, PLEASE go out of your way to send a text, dial a phone, or share a hug with someone deemed “marginalized” today. That’s all of us that are not white cisgender heterosexual men who are married to white cisgender heterosexual women. I type that because ALL of us are the ones they are coming for. ALL of us are in for an eventful four years, with repercussions that will live longer than any of us.

Healthcare at risk.
Marriages at risk.
Social security at risk.
Fertility support and reproductive care at risk.
Employment at risk.
Legal protections for the disabled at risk.
Public education at risk.
Truly free speech at risk.
Truth, honesty and respect at risk.
Citizenship at risk.
Freedom at risk.

Notice I didn’t say anything about LGBTQ+ folks? These issues affect us too. We value and struggle with the same things as everyone else. Our issues aren’t about being LGBTQ+. They are about civility and respect and access. Today, and for the next few years, we ALL deal with the same challenges. We will all got here together and we will all get through this together. I love YOU and I want us all to simply breathe and be kindTori Coopere@highlightr stop striving for better. Tori Cooper

All of us have a point of view on the things that happen to us that we articulate in form of a story about our lives. We story family struggles, the loves of our lives, friendships, and ups and downs of circumstance and the ways we manage them. We even story the funny things that happen to us through the day. Our stories disclose our goals and aspirations, fears, identity and self-worth, the roles we choose to play in life, the way we handle adversity and the values and beliefs that we hold dear. We may not choose what happens to us, but the stories we give to experience are ours alone.

Mayor Kasim Reed has appointed Atlanta Advocate Tracee McDaniel, as a member of the Atlanta Citizens Review Board.

McDaniel is the founder and executive director of the Juxtaposed Center for Transformation, described as an advocacy, consulting and social services referral organization for transgender and gender non-conforming people.

The ACRB provides a credible, independent forum where complaints and accusations can be assessed. It is also designed to help prevent future incidents of police or corrections misconduct and abuses of civil rights and to reduce the amount of money needed to satisfy judgments and settlements based on upon allegations of police or corrections misconduct. The ACRB promotes public confidence in law enforcement and lessens the possibility that future incidents of urban unrest will occur.
