My Big Mama…
I’ve been numb for days. You leaving this earth this year was always probable, but in my mind, not likely. I had braced myself for this day but that didn’t make it any less painful. Getting that call that you were transitioning so shortly after you’d made a miraculous recovery just weeks earlier made my heart hurt.
Standing with Charlie at your bedside when they confirmed the inevitable was the first time I realized I was in a room with 4 generations of women... as it was reducing down to 3. It was truly a blessing to have been able to share (HIRLARIOUS!!) moments with you, my mom, and my daughter.
You were never that milk-and-cookies, tv version of a grandmother. You had a fiery spirit. You were bold, sarcastic, playful, outspoken, a chismosa, carefree, self-assured… and I learned to appreciate it all!
Nehemiah, you spent 99 long years here and I hope your soul is now at rest. “Oh if I had the wings of a dove…” 🕊️
Love, B
