I keep thinking about how early this starts.

We tell boys to be independent, but a lot of what we actually teach them is not to need anybody emotionally...until they find a woman they’re allowed to need for damn near everything.

Maybe part of addressing male loneliness is raising boys to build and maintain real relationships with each other before a wife ever enters the picture.

Being valuable to a man’s life isn’t always the same as being deeply known by him. Sometimes the harder question isn’t, “Does he love me?” It’s... “Does he actually like me?” 😏

One of the strangest parts of growth is realizing something that used to have a chokehold on you...just doesn’t anymore.

I still give some damns about what people think. 😂 I just don’t need their approval before I decide how I feel about myself.

And apparently, all those small choices to trust myself first have been adding up.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t figuring out how to fix the marriage.

It’s accepting the information you’ve already been given.

If you’ve been having the same conversation for years, at some point you have to ask whether you’re waiting for change...or waiting for him to become somebody he has consistently shown you he isn’t willing to be.

That doesn’t automatically tell you to leave.

But it should tell you to stop treating the same pattern like a temporary problem.

I spent years trying to collect enough compliments to finally feel secure in myself. The problem was, there were never going to be enough.

Therapy isn’t a receipt you can hold up as proof that two people tried equally.

The real evidence is what happened after the session ended. Did the honesty travel home? Did accountability turn into changed behavior? Or did you leave with one more process to manage?

If the work never became shared, attendance alone wasn’t repair 😏

A woman can carry an unequal marriage for decades, but the minute she puts it down, somebody blames her hormones.

Maybe she didn’t suddenly become impossible to please. Maybe “one day” finally ran out of time 😏

“Choose better” sounds simple until you realize how much information women are expected to have *before* they have actually lived the relationship.

Yes, look back. Learn. Own what was yours. But don’t let “accountability” become another way to make a woman responsible for predicting somebody else’s future behavior.

Sometimes the lesson isn’t “I should’ve known better.” Sometimes it’s “I know better now… and I’m going to move differently because of it.”

The discourse is exhausting 😩

A lot of us didn’t become “the capable one” because we wanted that job.

We turned into the one everybody depended on because we kept paying attention, kept remembering, kept fixing what got missed, and kept learning what the family needed.

After a while, people stopped seeing that as effort. They just started expecting us to know. And that’s how being good at something can quietly turn into being responsible for everything 😏
