Save this trick for those hard-to-sand details! 🙌

Acetone can be a game changer for removing old finishes, but it doesn’t work on everything! Always test a small spot first, wear acetone-resistant gloves, and work in a well-ventilated area away from flames.

I’d say it worked pretty darn good! 👏

First things first! Sandstone by Varathane on oak is what I’ve tried, and it’s absolutely beautiful! 🤎

Keep in mind, different wood species absorb stain differently! Oak has an open grain that really brings out the character, while woods like pine can absorb stain unevenly.

My biggest tip? Always test your stain first! The same color can look completely different depending on the wood!

Before you buy new, go find something around your house to redo! 🤎

A little flat paint, some sawdust (YES, sawdust 😂) and these Christmas vases got a whole new look!

Who needs a night out when you’ve got furniture to refinish?!

I started with Rustic Taupe to tone down the yellow, then added Aging Barrel for warmth once dry.

Such a beginner-friendly alternative to staining!

Next up, sealing it with a matte finish! 🤎

Here’s how I got this finish! 🤎

I started by stripping away the old orange finish and sanding everything down to the natural wood.

Next came a paint wash using Benjamin Moore Rustic Taupe, followed by BEHR® Paint Aging Barrel to add warmth and bring out that beautiful wood grain.

Finished everything off with a matte topcoat and new brass hardware!

I love how these two colors work together to create that warm, natural wood look without all the orange!

Yes, I refinished the whole dresser…but can we talk about what new hardware can do?! 🙌

Freshening up the finish gave this piece a whole new look, but swapping out the old hardware was the instant upgrade that pulled it all together.
