Thirty-six years later, the search for Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook continues.
Family, friends, and community members gathered in Augusta to honor the twins on what would have been their 52nd birthday, releasing balloons and demanding answers in a case that still remains unsolved.
Their sister has never stopped fighting for justice. And neither should we.

Remembering Travis Smith ❤️

Today and every day, we remember Travis Smith.

Travis was so much more than what happened to him; he was a beloved son, brother, and father whose daughter has now spent most of her life without her dad.

It has been 13 years since Travis Smith’s family received the life-altering news that he was shot and killed at Ridgeview Manor Apartments in North Augusta South Carolina. We need the SOJ’s community help to keep sharing Travis’ face and case and encourage anyone with information to come forward or provide an anonymous tip.

Let’s spread awareness so that at this time next year Travis’ families have answers and can continue their journey towards justice!

📌 12 Years Without Answers

Today marks 12 years since the disappearance of L.C. Burroughs — a beloved 74-year-old husband, father, culinary professional, and respected Jenkins County business owner.

On September 26, 2013, Mr. Burroughs was last seen getting gas in Millen, GA, around 7 a.m. He went home and then to his well-known salvage yard. While on the phone with someone, he began arguing with another person at the salvage yard, which was also his home. That call suddenly disconnected — and he was never heard from again. No one knows who approached him that day.

💔 His family strongly believes foul play was involved. Despite searches by law enforcement, no answers have been found.

A $20,000 reward remains for information leading to the resolution of this case.

Four people in Thomson have been arrested in connection to the double murder of Cheryl Newsome and Troy Bennett in 2020, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Message from Sheriff Rowland on a cold case. Your help is needed:

On 8/21/2015, Walter Winn and Linda Scott were working at Winn’s Grocery, located at 406 Hwy 378 W in Edgefield County, near the McCormick County line. The store was a fixture in Edgefield, as was Mr. Winn. At approximately 12 noon, 2 black males entered the store and attempted to rob it. During the robbery, Mr. Winn was shot and sadly passed away from his injuries. Little is known. Several leads were developed at the time but did not lead to solving this case. No matter how little or insignificant what you remember might be, please call Captain Chase Harley at 803-336-0372.

As the 10th anniversary of this case approaches, the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance from the community on any possible leads. We want to serve justice and help bring closure to the Winn family. If you were in the area during the time in question and saw anything, we are interested in talking to you. You never know how little pieces of evidence might be put together to make a significant contribution to solving this heinous crime.
