Message from Sheriff Rowland on a cold case. Your help is needed:
On 8/21/2015, Walter Winn and Linda Scott were working at Winn’s Grocery, located at 406 Hwy 378 W in Edgefield County, near the McCormick County line. The store was a fixture in Edgefield, as was Mr. Winn. At approximately 12 noon, 2 black males entered the store and attempted to rob it. During the robbery, Mr. Winn was shot and sadly passed away from his injuries. Little is known. Several leads were developed at the time but did not lead to solving this case. As the 10th anniversary of this case approaches, the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance from the community on any possible leads. We want to serve justice and help bring closure to the Winn family. If you were in the area during the time in question and saw anything, we are interested in talking to you. You never know how little pieces of evidence might be put together to make a significant contribution to solving this heinous crime.
