We have been showing up to splash pads and lots of them have been off for maintenance lately, so here are our favorite creek spots that are always on and always free. 💦
📍 Cherry Creek Valley Ecological Park (Centennial)
This one takes a little effort—you’ll walk about 10-15 minutes down to the creek from the parking lot—but it is such a hidden gem. Great sandy areas, and shallow spots to explore, but also deep enough for kids to swim if they want.
📍 Belleview Park (Englewood)
Located right behind the train and petting zoo & farm. We usually spend some time at the petting zoo and then head down to the creek.
📍 O’Fallon Park (Evergreen)
A great little mountain creek spot with lots of open space. There’s no playground here, but it’s perfect for a picnic and playing in the creek.
📍 Washington Park (Denver)
One of our absolute favorites. The creek area is shady, shallow, sandy bottom, and right next to a playground- the one on the north end of the park. It’s hard to beat for an easy summer outing right in the middle of Denver.
📍 Ralston Valley Park (Arvada)
A great adventure creek. It’s shady, right next to a playground, and full of rocks, logs, and little places for kids to explore.
📍 Lair o’ the Bear Park (Morrison)
One of our favorite mountain creek spots. You can hike and explore the trails, or simply walk straight to the creek and spend the day there.
📍 Clear Creek (Golden)
A summer classic. There are access points all along the creek, so you can park in different areas of Golden and easily find a spot to play in the water. Perfect for a full afternoon of creek time.
