Had a delightful time today with Susan, the winner of "A Day With Jeremy" at the Aurora Symphony Orchestra silent auction!!

We had lunch at one of my favorite places Gina's Kitchen (which I found out today is shutting down 😭) and then Susan came to watch an A*O rehearsal. So grateful for her support at the silent auction and for sharing our concerts with her friends!

Also, both of us have a dog named Daisy. Who would have guessed!!!

I'm absolutely psyched to share this interview I did on the Visit Aurora podcast. Aurora Symphony Orchestra has grown so much, and we're seeing the difference we make!

Very excited to share this interview I did on Aurora's "Gateway to the Rockies" podcast! Over the 40 minutes we get into some great stuff that I rarely get to talk about. Dave did excellent prep for this interview!

Here's the description: Established in 1978 and featuring more than 70 volunteer musicians, the Aurora Symphony Orchestra has made classical music accessible to all in our community. Conductor and Artistic Director Jeremy Cuebas gives us insight into selecting repertoire, fostering youth engagement, and bringing classical music to new audiences in creative and engaging ways.

Honored to be featured in this interview with Denver Arts & Culture, and excited for a chance to share how the Aurora Symphony Orchestra is changing how we think about and create music for our community as a force for healing and connecting.

My favorite quote: "What people need these days is not “live classical music.” What they need is all the things that live classical music can offer. Somebody described one of our concerts last year as a “pause” in a busy, stressful world. For her, it was a pause that she desperately needed that week as she dealt with chronic health issues. Somebody else said that our concert was a fun excuse to get together with their family and neighbors for an afternoon concert and dinner after...No matter how profound or simple the experience is for you, these moments are important."

Back in the podcasting seat for the first time in a long time! But I'm not recording for Podium Time (not yet, anyway 😉)! I'm hosting interviews on Aubrey Bergauer's The Offstage Mic podcast for arts admin!

Super excited over the next two weeks to record five interviews with excellent administrators making a big difference for their ensembles and their communities.

I just stumbled upon my new favorite music writer, Fran Hoepfner, who closes their discussion of the "Bacchanale" from Samson and Delila with this sentence: "It’s a full-on nightclub banger if I ever heard it; it just happened to be written in 1877."

Enjoy:

Huh. I just found out that the entire "Lieutenant Kije" film is on Youtube for free! I've been meaning to watch it and finally found a free evening.

So excited to perform Kenji Bunch's Supermaximum with Aurora Symphony Orchestra this weekend!

I first saw this piece when National Repertory Orchestra performed it around 2017 and it was an "OMG I need to program this piece!" moment.
