Visit to Emergency
Swollen foot
Doc said to head on in.
Bringing Jeff to a hospital
Has been tough.
So here’s different things we did
to help this time.
1. Activate Calm mode -
I paused and connected to my calm mode.
George does this naturally.
Jeff picks up our vibe easily.
2. Prepped Jeff & brought protein bars.
George explained to Jeff
what would be happening.
Assuring him
We will be with him the whole time.
3. Prepped ER
With Jeff & George in car,
I shared Jeff’s condition,
and said he won’t be able to wait long.
This really helped us getting cubicle,
Instead of hanging in big waiting room.
4. Walk in with Jeff like entering coffee shop.
Go in with non-hospital vibe.
Say hi to people. Friendly & light.
We avoided the words
Hospital and doctor.
5. Sit on the hospital bed.
I encouraged Jeff
to sit beside me on bed.
6. Let Jeff have time to settle in.
Ideally in his own ER room.
Keeps it simpler for everyone.
7. Play music as needed.
Really helps Jeff shift.
8. Add Lots of reassurance.
Be patient and more patient
with your loved one.
9. Await the news
Be ready to stay or go.
10. Today we Celebrated,
Tests came back normal.
Celebrate even the little things.
Thank you medical staff
at Newton Wellesley ER
for really adapting to Jeff
