Nothing you build out of a difficult season
was meant to last forever.

Let it melt when it is time.
Something green is already
growing underneath it. πŸ–€

Arminius, a Germanic prince taken hostage by Rome as a boy, was raised, trained, and trusted as a Roman officer. In 9 AD, he served as guide to General Varus and three full legions β€” nearly 20,000 men β€” deep into Germanic territory. He led them directly into an ambush in the Teutoburg Forest, where Germanic warriors waited. Over three days, the legions were slaughtered. Emperor Augustus reportedly wandered his palace crying "Give me back my legions." Rome never again attempted full conquest of Germania. πŸ–€

Some things stay exactly where they are
not because we forget about them,
but because we never stopped loving them.

Love does not always look dramatic.
Sometimes it just looks like
never taking something down. πŸ–€

In early 1800s Tennessee, the Bell family claimed they were tormented by an invisible entity for years β€” scratching in the walls, objects moving on their own, and eventually a voice that identified itself as a spirit. It targeted the family patriarch specifically, allegedly causing seizures and physical attacks. Neighbors witnessed the phenomena, and even a future U.S. president reportedly visited the farm out of curiosity. The patriarch died in 1820, and the entity reportedly claimed responsibility. Two centuries later, nobody has ever fully explained what happened on that farm.

Edith Cavell was a British nurse stationed in occupied Belgium during World War One. She treated wounded soldiers from every side without discrimination β€” but secretly, she was also helping Allied soldiers escape German occupied territory. Over two hundred men escaped because of her. In 1915, German authorities discovered what she was doing. She was arrested, tried under military law, and sentenced to death. The night before her ex*****on, she told a chaplain: "Patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness toward anyone." She was executed by firing squad at dawn. A statue now stands near Trafalgar Square. They killed her for saving lives. Her final words became more powerful than the bullets that ended them. πŸ–€

Some of the best moments do not end
when everyone leaves the room.

They just quietly settle into memory,
waiting for you to smile
about them later. πŸ–€

Sometime in the 1100s, villagers in Woolpit, England found two children wandering alone near a wheat field β€” a boy and a girl with green skin, wearing strange clothing and speaking a language nobody recognized. They refused all food except raw beans. The boy grew ill and died; the girl survived, slowly began eating other foods, and her green skin gradually faded. She eventually learned English and claimed she came from a twilight world called Saint Martin's Land, saying she and her brother had followed the sound of bells and gotten lost. Medieval chroniclers recorded the story in remarkable detail. Nine hundred years later, nobody has ever explained where they truly came from. πŸ–€
