Bertha Benz and her husband Karl Benz had invented the first gasoline-powered automobile, but no one knew how to use it, leaving the invention unused. Everyone called Karl a fool for creating what they considered a ridiculous tricycle
To make matters worse, Karl took refuge in alcohol to accompany his depression.
The Benz family lived in Mannheim with their five children, and Bertha had to visit her parents in Pforzheim, almost 100 kilometers to the south. To support her husband and make sure that his work was not in vain, Bertha took courage and decided to set off on the tricycle to visit them.
The journey took almost a full day, a reasonable amount of time considering the power of the vehicle in the late 19th century. Bertha had to stop several times at pharmacies to refuel with gasoline, which was sold there at the time. She visited two tanners to repair the brakes, thus inventing brake pads, and a blacksmith to fix the transmission chain. When a fuel line clogged, Bertha used a pin to repair it and insulated a wire with a makeshift tie.
After arriving at her destination, Bertha informed her husband of the success of the trip by telegram. The next day, she set off for Mannheim, completing the return journey.
The trip attracted a lot of attention, as Bertha met many curious people along the way. It was then that people began to understand that the automobile was not just a curious toy, but a practical and fast means of transportation.
Karl became instantly famous and soon everyone wanted a replica of his car, leading to numerous orders. Bertha's trip was also an opportunity for her to test the vehicle from a user's perspective, identifying potential improvements.
She suggested adding a gear to the transmission to increase speed, thus reducing travel time and allowing it to overtake wagons, adding a fourth wheel for greater stability, improving the brakes, and installing a fuel filter. From there, what would become a large automobile empire, known to this day, was born.

1975 Ford Pinto I saw at the grocery store this morning! I asked the old chap how long has he owned it and he said since 1975. I then asked him what year it and he also stated 1975, bought brand new at a dealrship not far from where I saw him! This is the first time I've seen a Ford Pinto look this clean and neat in these times! He went on to tell me that this was the only car that he had driven in the last 47 years! I was definitely impressed!!

A great work!

Out to eat with my husband and 4 year-old daughter. Saw a young man quietly eating alone at the counter. I told our waitress we were paying for his meal. Asked that she not tell him who and instead only say that a customer had paid his bill to wish him hope and joy.

I watched his surprise when she told him. He asked 'Who? Where are they?' She said they left already but wished him happiness. He looked at her and paused. Nodded. Then: 'Give me the checks of everyone sitting at the counter. I'm paying them all.'

šŸ‡®šŸ‡øšŸ›«šŸŒØļø ossafjƶr ,ur Airport, located in the Western Fjords in Iceland, is a small but vital connection point between this remote region and the rest of the country. Surrounded by steep mountains and sea, access to it is difficult due to winds and rough terrain. Despite its size, it plays a crucial role in transporting passengers and supplies to this hard-to-reach area.

Know what you’re buying. This picture has store beef(right), and farm beef(left). There is an obvious visible difference between the two but the differences don’t stop there!

1. You may notice the color difference in the picture. The store bought is pumped full of additives and preservatives, including propyl gallate, to protect against spoilage due to long term air exposure.

2. There isn’t a guarantee of where that beef came from, OR how many cows are in it.

Yes, it may have the USDA label on it but as long as that animal was packaged in the US, it can be called a Product of the USA.

And yes, the meat in the right package is not from one single cow, rather scraps from multiple cows. It may have come from Argentina, Canada, or Brazil.

3. The beef on the left is fresher, darker and is farm raised beef. It is filled with more nutrients & flavor. The ground is also from one cow and not just low quality scraps from multiple cows.

Buy from a local farm .

There’s a woman in my mirror,
And she looks a lot like me.
Though there’s lines around her eyes,
And her hair is wild and free.
She is plumper than myself,
And she is definitely grey.
Did I miss the day this happened
Has she always been this way?
And this woman in the mirror,
Has an air of something calm.
Like a tide that’s going out,
And a beach that’s soft and warm.
She has seen the world in colour,
She has learned to know the truth.
There’s a wisdom in her wrinkles,
There’s a knowledge brought from youth.
And she seems to move more freely,
As though released from earthly binds.
Is she made of something lighter?
Perhaps the weight she left behind.
Like the press of expectation,
And the need to yield and bend.
I like this woman in the mirror,
She’s fast becoming my best friend.

Be gentle with your Mother..
There are times that a quick, short answer jumps out of your mouth. Full of sharp edges that draw blood. And you look away so you don’t need to see the pain you know you caused.
Half of what she does, you don’t understand. The things she allows leave you cold and irritate you.
One moment you want to fold her in your arms, the next you wish you could just shake her a bit.
One day it will all make sense to you.
The things she never told you about, are the very things that hollowed out her insides and then built her up again, so she can carry more and more where no-one can see the weight. Those things that sometimes break her where you can actually see it, even though you prefer not to.
Her eyes notice everything, yet she keeps so much to herself. She steps back and offers her hope for the sake of her child’s happiness. The gratitude she deserves for doing that is far and few between, yet her flame of gratitude reaches close to the Heavens.
Should you be blessed enough to still have her breathing the air of this earth, it’s time you start digging in your gratitude-archives and find the warmth in your heart, the forgiveness in your voice and the same amazement you had as a toddler for her. I beg of you to please, today and every day, be gentle with your Mother.
Because the day will come that her morning greeting will no longer be.
Her words ā€œI love you my childā€ will no longer be.
Her voice will no longer be heard.
All that will be left are memories..
Be gentle with your Mother. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

My wife doesn't work...
Conversation between a husband (M) and a psychologist (P):
P: What do you do for a living, Mr. Rogers?
M: I am an accountant in a bank…
P: And your wife?
M: She doesn't work. She's a stay-at-home mom.
P: Who prepares breakfast for your family?
M: My wife, since she doesn’t work.
P: What time does your wife wake up in the morning?
M: She wakes up very early since things have to be organized. She prepares lunches for the children, she makes sure they are well dressed and combed, that they have eaten, brushed their teeth and collected all their school belongings. She wakes up with the baby, changes his diaper and breastfeeds him.
P: How do your children get to school?
M: My wife drives them to school, since she doesn't work.
P: After driving the children to school, what does she do?
M: She goes to the supermarket to buy groceries or she does shopping for the house. Sometimes she forgets something and has to do the whole trip again with the crying baby. Once she returns home, she has to feed and breastfeed the baby, change his diaper and prepare him for a nap, clean the house and do the laundry. You know, since she doesn't work.
P: In the evening, when you come back from the office, what do you do?
M: I'm resting, of course. I'm exhausted from my long day of work at the bank.
P: What does your wife do in the evening?
M: She cooks dinner, serves us food, washes the dishes, cleans the house and walks the dog. After helping the children with their homework, she gets them ready for bed and checks that they have brushed their teeth. Then she changes the baby's diaper and breastfeeds him again. When she is in bed, she wakes up regularly to breastfeed and change diapers as needed, since she does not have to get up to go to work.
This is the daily routine of many women around the world. It starts at dawn and continues until the wee hours of the morning… and it’s called ā€œdon’t workā€?!
Being a stay-at-home mom may not require a degree, but it is an essential family role!
Appreciate your wife, your mother, your grandmother, your aunt, your sister or your daughter… because their sacrifices are priceless.
Someone asked me...
ā€œAre you a working woman, or are you just a stay-at-home mom?ā€ Ā»
I answered :
I am a woman who works at home, 24 hours a day…
I am a mother,
I'm a woman,
I am a girl,
I am an alarm clock,
I am the cook,
I am the housekeeper,
I am the mistress of the house,
I'm the waitress,
I am the nurse,
I am a nurse,
I am a manual worker,
I am a security guard,
I am the advisor,
I am the comforter,
I don't have any time off,
I work day and night,
I am still on duty,
I don't get paid and...
Even then, I often hear the phrase:
ā€œBut what do you do all day?ā€ Ā»

Aria and I saw this man shopping while we were at Walmart this morning. She stopped him to ask if he was Santa. He said yes and wished her a Merry Christmas as he walked by. Her eyes lit up and she got a huge smile on her face and we continued shopping. A few minutes later, he found us in another aisle and asked if we had a couple minutes to talk. It’s Santa, of course we have time to talk!!! He chatted with her a bit…asked her how old she was, her name, what she wanted for Christmas, etc. Then he grabbed some Christmas candy he had put in his basket and gave them to her along with $10 to purchase them. She even had enough extra that she was able to buy a chocolate surprise toy each for her sister and herself, that they’ve been eyeing by the register every time we go!
Dear Santa, šŸŽ…
THANK YOU for keeping the Christmas spirit alive, not only for the kids, but for us all! ā¤ļø

The "Titanic Cat" who foresaw the sinking and retrieved her babies before the ship sailed. 😮
Jenny the cat was the Titanic's mascot, brought on board to help fight rodents. She lived in the ship's galley and was cared for by a laborer named Jim Mulholland.
During the sea trials, Jenny gave birth to kittens and Jim found them a comfortable place next to the ship's galley. Caring for the mother cat and her kittens broke up the monotony of Jim's work preparing the Titanic for sailing. Jenny seemed content with her warm place near the boilers, her babies, and the kitchen scraps that Jim brought her. However, as soon as the ship docked in Southampton, England, just before it began its maiden voyage (to New York), Jenny took a good look at her surroundings and quickly began grabbing her kittens by the necks and carrying them out. One by one, down the gangway she led them out of the ship.
Jim watched her carefully and realized that "this cat must know something that no one else does!". He then quickly gathered his few belongings and left the ship as well.
Years later, Irish Road published Jenny's story after a journalist spoke to a very old man - Jim, who told the story.
He survived thanks to the cat and her kittens who warned him.

I’ve lived in the same home 29 years
As a widow the house seemed empty when my pet of 16 years passed away
I rescued ā€œmy girlsā€ from the shelter I volunteer at they were transferred from a place that was going to put them down- no one would adopt them together
They were a year old - their whole young life in a box. Now they can feel the wind and sun : watch all the neighborhood wildlife
They are the best companions- fill my house with joy

Wow!!! This is wonderful!!!!
He was called "filthy" because his skin was dark, unintelligent because he could barely speak English. When he arrived in this country, he was placed in a special class for immigrants. But, a few of his teachers saw something in the way he expressed himself, through his drawings, through his view of the world. He would soon master his new language.

His mother had made a difficult decision to take him, his two younger sisters and a half-brother to America, seeking a better life for their family. They settled in Boston's South End, at the time the second-largest Syrian-Lebanese-American community. The family would struggle and the young boy would lose one sister and his half-brother to tuberculosis. His mother would die of cancer.

He would write, ā€œOut of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.ā€

He was born in poverty on January 6, 1883 in what is now modern day Lebanon.

He believed in love, he believed in peace, and he believed in understanding.

His name was Kahlil Gibran, and he is primarily known for his book, "The Prophet." The book, published in 1923, would sell tens of millions of copies, making him the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Laozi.

Published in 108 languages around the world, passages from "The Prophet" are quoted at weddings, in political speeches and at funerals, inspiring influential figures such as John F. Kennedy, Indira Gandhi, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and David Bowie.

He was very outspoken, attacking hypocrisy and corruption. His books were burned in Beirut, and in America, he would receive death threats.

Gibran was the only member of his family to pursue scholastic education. His sisters were not allowed to enter school, primarily because of Middle Eastern traditions as well as financial difficulties. Gibran, however, was inspired by the strength of the women in his family, especially his mother. After one sister, his mother, and his half-brother died, his other sister, Mariana would support Gibran and herself by working at a dressmaker's shop.

Of his mother, he would write:

"The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word 'Mother,' and the most beautiful call is the call of 'My mother.' It is a word full of hope and love, a sweet and kind word coming from the depths of the heart. The mother is everything – she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness."

Gibran would later champion the cause of women’s emancipation and education.

He believed that ā€œSafeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being.ā€

In a poem to new immigrants, he would write, "I believe you can say to the founders of this great nation. 'Here I am. A youth. A young tree. Whose roots were plucked from the hills of Lebanon. Yet I am deeply rooted here. And I would be fruitful.'"

He would write in "The Prophet":

ā€œLet there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.ā€

I once told my wife I was going out to buy an envelope:
ā€œOh", she said, "well, you're not a poor man. You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet?"
And so I pretended not to hear her. And went out to get an envelope because I have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope.
I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is - we're here on Earth to fart around.
And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realise, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore.
Let's all get up and move around a bit right now... or at least dance.
