Texas Co-op Power

Texas Co-op Power Keeping electric cooperative members informed since 1944. In 1944, the first issue of Texas Co-op Power rolled off the presses.

Texas Co-op Power celebrates being a Texan and a co-op member with stories about people, food, travel, history and culture in co-op country that help make our vast state feel more like one big community. The modest black-and-white monthly was created to help Texas’ electric cooperatives communicate with their members. Over the years, TCP has steadily grown and improved to better engage, entertain

and inform members about Texas living, local co-op news and energy issues. Every month, more than 1.7 million co-op members find TCP in their homes, making it the largest-circulation publication in Texas. We ask our readers to engage with our content in a respectful and considerate manner on this page. Texas Co-op Power reserves the right to remove disrespectful comments, including any that include hate speech or curse words.

Imagine a squatter going to sleep in his home one night, dreaming of the garden he would plant—and the next morning waking up to greet a new neighbor whose shack was sitting where the dreamed-of garden was supposed to go. But with no surveyed lots and no titles, it was difficult to claim ownership of anything.

Hold close the people around you. And cherish the stories of those willing to assist in restoring and rebuilding and mending the brokenhearted. For them, I’m thankful.

The most American of foods got its kick start from Canary Islands mojo.

“Veterans often are thanked for their service, and while that is great and surely appreciated, to me that wasn’t enough, especially for those who have lost limbs, their mobility, suffer from wounds and PTSD,” Sawyer says. “I was in a position to do more and so I did.”
