The journey finding my wealth of wellness started 10 years ago when I had a serious wake up call. At that time I was in my early 20s in my college career where I wasn’t making the best choices. I ended up 30 lbs overweight, struggling with migraines, anxiety and depression. I was also on a prescription pill which was causing rapid weight gain. I reached a point where I had to do something about it.
The first day I walked into the gym, I walked right out. I thought to myself, “This isn’t for me, this is for FIT people.” I couldn’t have been more wrong.
From that point, I tried again and I went on my first run. That run was excruciating but I made it a few blocks. I also started to explore different workout options and found my self in love with group fitness. I took dance fit classes as well as other strength and cardio classes. I became hooked with the camaraderie of group fitness as well as the fun music.
I started to look at my diet and make better choices with what I ate. The weight started to come off. Not only did I physically start to shed the extra weight, but the mental heaviness also started to lighten. My body and mind started to rise out of the negativity I had been under for so many years. At one point I started teaching dance fit as well as other group fitness classes.
My journey has continued up until this day, where I keep wellness as top priority in my life. And now is my time to shed light on the wealth of benefits that can be found in wellness.

Each week we dive into my five pillars of wellness: Be well, Live well, Eat well, Move well and Dress well. Each pillar focuses on different aspects of wellness. Join me each week as I talk with diet/nutrition specialists, fitness instructors and gyms, lifestyle professionals, skincare professionals and stylists as well as my Don’t search it, ask Dr. Myles monthly segment to answer your healthcare questions.
