Holy s**t! - I just saw this movie by . Here for premiere on Friday of my Film The Cure Meets The Man Who Laughs. Your in luck because Barrio Triste is playing 1 more night and I highly suggest you cancel whenever else you have planned for that time slot and go see it. Imagine s Slacker but instead of in Austin, Tx in the 90s it’s a 3rd world country and there is not a hipster in sight and s**t gets real very real, very scary, and there is a demon probably and a child of light probably, and it’s heart breaking. This is NOT a YouTuber making a movie for his million plus followers and getting a big fat payout before you can say 7 figure branding deal. This is the real deal. This guy is a fu***ng artist. This is a guy with something raw and true to say. He’s not trying to change the industry or prove anything. He needed to make this movie and he did. Nothing glamorous or sharp about this one. It’s dirty, it’s not safe, and it’s pure punk rock film making at its finest. It is in NO WAY made for the YouTube attention span generation. And you could tell that at least 3/4 of the audience was coming from ingesting content in a way that made this movie uncomfortable for them or perhaps hard to relate to? I don’t know but the movie ended and when no one clapped (how can no one clap for a film playing on the opening night of a major film festival even if they didn’t love it- you clap for the film just making it there) but I clapped because it was amazing. And after I kept clapping for at least 15 seconds alone about half the room joined me briefly. But whatever who cares. It was a true vision. See it when it comes to your town this summer if you’re lucky enough for your art house to play it. I won’t say you will “enjoy it” but for many of you you will be affected profoundly in a way most films are not capable of affecting you and that is rare these days.
