Why’s it so difficult to engage with your seggsuality after deconstruction?

Because you don’t know how to differentiate between a true red flag đŸš©and old church programming â›Ș

Red Flag đŸš©

This is a genuine “Oh sh*t, I’m not safe,” feeling.

It’s your survival system working as intended!

And you need to listen to it.

Church Programming â›Ș

This is that guilty feeling you get that doesn’t logically make sense anymore.

You might hear it in an old pastor’s voice.

It might come with a heaping dose of shame or fear.

But it’s not valid for the situation.

_______________

THIS is what you need to start differentiating.

Because until you do, you’re going to keep living like the church is watching.

Understanding the difference between Red Flags, Church Programming, and your actual intuition is exactly what we work on in Somatic Deconstruction Coaching.

No more avoiding new experiences because of beliefs you don’t hold anymore.

But finding YOUR framework for living well after deconstruction.

It’s time to live your f*cking life.

It’s no wonder the church had us so tight in its grasp. The manipulation went far beyond what was taught at the pulpit: it was emotional, physical, mental. From a young, important, and developmental age, our bodies weren’t given the choice. It was made for us.

And that’s why we left.

In this episode, I sit down with Sarah from , and we dive deep into the world of charismatic evangelicalism, what it is, why we escaped, and how we’re still unlearning everything it taught us. You won’t want to miss it.

Wanting anything after deconstruction feels dangerous.

Not because we think it’s actually dangerous.

But because we were taught for years not to trust our desires.

That our hearts are wicked and deceitful.

That the devil gets to us through “fun”

So we walk around after deconstruction miserable.

Still afraid to enjoy.

Still doubting our own desire.

So disconnected from the parts of us we once considered fleshly, frivolous, or sinful.

And usually, that’s where a fulfilled and free life actually starts.

That’s why I created the Permission Experiment.

To support you while you safely run tiny experiments and start creating a life you love.

You don’t have to already know what you want.

You just have to be willing to try.

If you’re in for the next round,

Comment “SCIENCE” and I’ll get you a link to the waitlist!

What happens to you when someone asks what you want?

How have you navigated that question after deconstruction?

I think that being ultra religious stunts many of us.

I think it literally impacts normal human development.

I gave a silly example here.

But things like relationships.
Sexuality
Boundaries
Making decisions
Critical thinking
Personal Agency
Individuality

These all get challenged so hard during the normal ages they’d develop,

Sometimes we skip them altogether.

So here’s to those of us discovering parts of ourselves at 32 most find at 17.

Cheers to experimenting like a college student, while you have kids and a mortgage.

And hurrah to learning what your personality is after leaving that high control church.

You’re stronger than you know.

What life skills did you feel like you missed out on because you grew up religious?

And what are you just now (in your adulthood) are you learning?

It’s easy to understand how being raised in a high-control church can manipulate children into staying, but what about grown adults who have never experienced it? Why is it so common for people to get sucked in?

Trauma, broken relationships, coming to “the end of your rope”- all of those are prime opportunities for the church to sweep in and make you an offer you can’t refuse.

In the end, well, we can see where that path leads.

In this episode, I sit down with Sarah from , and we dive deep into the world of charismatic evangelicalism, what it is, why we escaped, and how we’re still unlearning everything it taught us. You won’t want to miss it.

After years of fighting, suppressing, and overspiritualizing, our bodies often fight us in ways that we aren’t prepared for. Whether it’s a panic attack, a stomach ache, or simply a weird unease that you can’t explain, high-control religion can really f*ck you up.

Can we just remember that this is social media?

Of course I didn’t go into a theological dissertation in 90 seconds.

Of course I didn’t cover every angle in ONE REEL.

We’re talking about existential crises.

About ego death.

About entire worldviews shifting.

About religious abuse.

About CPTSD.

About experiences that span decades and thousands of people.

This sh*t is real.

It doesn’t fit nicely in a box.

Everything I post is a .05% slice of the whole picture.

Don’t forget the nuance.

Don’t forget how much of our lives are lived off screen.

How little of our human experience fits inside these phones.

But never underestimate the value of empowering others.

Even if it’s just a validating a stranger on the internet.

That’s what we’re here for.

Not to nit-pick each other and start arguments.

To heal religious trauma together, by any means necessary.

If you’re here for that too, welcome.

I’m glad you’re here.
