Downtown is losing another heavyweight. Vince Young Steakhouse is officially closing its downtown restaurant marking a 15 year long run of power lunches, celebratory dinners, and classic Austin steakhouse energy.

No reopening tease. No relocation announced. Just a straight up goodbye.

More details on our blog (link in profile). Pour one out for a downtown legend.

BREAKING 😪 - The rumors are unfortunately true.
A South Congress legend is calling last call.
After nearly three decades anchoring South Congress, Vespaio has confirmed it will close its doors on February 28. The news landed via Instagram and yes it hits right in the nostalgia.

Vespaio opened in 1998 back when South Congress was still finding its groove and helped shape what the street would become. In 2018 the torch passed from founders Alan Lazarus, Scott Bolin, and Claude Benayoun to owners Daniel Brooks and Ryan Samson. Their mission was simple and respectful: protect the legacy and keep serving Austin as long as it made sense.

The closure also includes neighboring Chapulín Cantina. The good news is that Vespa Rossa in Dripping Springs is staying open, so this is not a full goodbye to the family. Just the end of an era on South Congress. 😪

LAST MIN SHOPPING GUIDE - For all looking for those last minute gifts for the one in the family member who already has enough socks and opinions -

*High Camp Flasks for the wine lover who refuses to drink bad vibes or warm Pinot. Magnet tumblers included because civilization matters.

*Taffer’s Browned Butter Bourbon - is basically a holiday hug with vanilla and toffee. Eggnog. Toddy. Fireplace optional but encouraged.

*Blackland Texpresso Whiskey - when coffee and whiskey decide to stop pretending they are not soulmates. Add espresso and suddenly you are a mixologist before noon.

*Pantalones Organic Tequila - because life is short and tequila should not take itself too seriously. Fun bottle. Clean finish. No lectures.

*Tequila Herradura Reposado - for the traditionalist who respects oak, patience, and doing things the right way.

*Illegal Mezcal - for the smoky rebel who likes their
spirits bold and a little mysterious.

*Still Austin Whiskey - because Texas does not whisper. It pours.

*Carlos Arriba Wines - for the friend who shows up with good taste and leaves with an empty bottle. Exclusively available

You are welcome. The deadline is real.

The only thing uglier than the sweaters you'll see at Rules and Regs is showing up without one and realizing everyone is staring at you.

22/12/2025

As an Austin creator & photographer, I'm always chasing good light, great food, and exciting events. A glass of Carlos fits my energy.

Carlos Arriba just dropped exclusively at HEB. Sustainably made in Chile, priced like a smart decision, and built for those who move through the world with curiosity and confidence. It is the kind of wine you open after the shoot, before the story, or just when the night gets interesting.

. Drink it while you're grilling. Drink it while you're partying. Drink it when you're winding down. Adventure doesn't need to be loud. It just needs a good pour. 🍷
