For 17 years, he drove the same Buick through the streets of Chicago.
Chicago, 1968.
He worked nights.
Every evening, he climbed into the same Buick and started another shift.
He knew which streets stayed busy.
Which restaurants stayed open late.
Which passengers needed a quiet ride home.
And every morning, before going home, he stopped at the same little diner for coffee.
The Buick wasn't anything special to most people.
But tucked into the dashboard was a photograph of his family.
He kept it there for years.
Because no matter how long the night was, that little photograph reminded him where he was going home to.
