Build a car every few years, trying to improve my skills and knowledge as a "garage builder" in it for the joy of creating something. This car came from Colorado, not a driver, hole in the roof, no interior at all enough bondo to build a statue but struck a chord with me when i saw the potential. I painted it flat gold metallic which worked for me and gave it a different appeal overall. The original owner had hand stamped designs in the firewall which was a throwback but i liked it. When i found this 1931 Ford roadster, it didn't have any interior. I bought some tools to bend/shape metal and tried to make it look like the idea i had in my head for what i wanted to accomplish just using light gauge steel. I rolled the doors and raised a panel, along with punching out a dash and punching/flaring holes for seat upper and back support. The seats are simple boat seats. I bought the upholstery in burgundy and dyed the seats to match. The floor is birch. I found some bomber style gauge surrounds and the door pockets are late model Ford items. I found the 1931 license plates and decided to rivet them to the doors. This car used to race on the beaches of New Jersey back in the day. I tried to stay close to my impression of what would have been possible back then. No doubt, i'll never have another one that is period correct or as cool as this one.
