๐ Heads Up, Southwest Florida Drivers: Operation Southern Slow Down Underway
If you're traveling through Collier County or anywhere across the Southeast this week, you'll likely notice an increased law enforcement presence on major highways.
Operation Southern Slow Down is a multi-state traffic safety campaign focused on reducing dangerous driving behaviors such as speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and impaired driving. Agencies throughout Florida and neighboring states are participating by increasing patrols on interstate highways and other heavily traveled roads.
Officials say the goal is simple: encourage safer driving and reduce serious crashes during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Whether you're commuting, heading to the beach, or taking a road trip, remember to:
๐ Obey posted speed limits
๐ฑ Keep your phone down while driving
๐ซ Never drive impaired
๐ Leave plenty of following distance
๐ชช Always buckle up
If you're traveling on I-75 (Alligator Alley) or other major routes near Ave Maria, plan a little extra time and drive safely.
Have you noticed increased patrols in the area?
