A Sayreville man was arrested for attempted murder after police say he tried to drive into officers who tried to pull him over, and rammed his car into occupied, marked police cars.

Rennard Roseburgh, 32, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, eight counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and eluding. He was transported to the Middlesex County jail pending a court appearance.

Sayreville Police pulled Roseburgh over that day for a traffic violation. However, Roseburgh fled from the traffic stop by accelerating at a high speed, which included dragging a Sayreville Police officer, said East Brunswick Police Chief Frank LoSacco.

Roseburgh was unable to be apprehended, but a warrant was issued for his arrest, and East Brunswick Police were notified of the incident.

While on patrol, East Brunswick Patrolman Michael Manning observed Roseburgh's car, and with the assistance of other police officers, they conducted a motor vehicle stop on Old Bridge Turnpike.

After initially stopping, Roseburgh accelerated toward Patrolman Manning, Patrolman Colin White and Lieutenant Thomas Cassidy, all of whom had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck by his fleeing vehicle. A pursuit was initiated, during which time Roseburgh purposely rammed his vehicle into several occupied patrol units before finally being apprehended and taken into custody.

"I want to take a moment to commend the outstanding work of the involved East Brunswick Police Officers, whose actions undoubtedly saved lives. Roseburgh’s outrageous actions created a big danger to the public, and what he did could have resulted in the deaths of these brave officers, who selflessly work to protect our community," said LoSacco.

Chief LoSacco said he wants to be very clear:

• The East Brunswick Police Department will not tolerate resistance to lawful police authority.
• Fleeing, fighting or resisting officers will be met with immediate arrest and aggressive prosecution.
• To those who believe resisting arrest is an option: it is not.
• To those who think fleeing will end well: it won’t.
• To those who put officers’ lives at risk: expect handcuffs, not sympathy.

"The only appropriate venue to challenge law enforcement action is through the judicial system, not by endangering lives in the street. Attempting to “fight the case” during a motor vehicle stop or arrest will only result in additional criminal charges, increased penalties and incarceration," said East Brunswick Police in a press release Saturday.

Juvenile Male Taken into Custody for Homicide

Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Chief Daniel Plumacker of the Sayreville Police Department announced today that a 16-year-old juvenile male has been taken into custody and charged with acts of juvenile delinquency for offenses which if committed by an adult would constitute Murder, Possession of a Handgun for Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, and Armed Riot in connection with a homicide that occurred in Sayreville on January 9, 2026.

On January 9, 2026, at 10:58 P.M., authorities received 911 call reporting shots fired. Upon their arrival to Woods Edge Court in the Parlin section of Sayreville, they discovered a 17-year-old male from East Brunswick with a gunshot wound. The 17-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An investigation led by Detective Mark Nairooz of Sayreville Police Department and Detective Ryan Kirsh of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led to the arrest of a 16-year-old male from Sayreville Moreover, the 17-year-old male and 16-year-old male knew each other prior to the incident, thus it was not a random act of violence.

The 16-year-old is being held at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a preliminary hearing before a Family Court Judge.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Nairooz of the Sayreville Police Department at 732-727-4444 or Detective Kirsh of the Middlesex County Prosecutors Office at 732-745-3711.

As with all criminal defendants, the charges against the juvenile are just allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

HOWELL TOWNSHIP MAN SENTENCED TO STATE PRISON FOR STRICT LIABILITY VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on January 9, 2026, Stephen McGuire, 48, of Howell, was sentenced by the Honorable David M. Fritch, J.S.C., to three years New Jersey State Prison (NJSP) relative to his previously entered guilty plea to Strict Liability Vehicular Homicide in connection with an incident that occurred in Manchester Township on December 12, 2020. Additionally, Judge Fritch sentenced McGuire to three years NJSP relative to his previously entered guilty plea to Endangering the Welfare of a Child in connection with the same incident.

The sentences will run concurrently. McGuire pled guilty to both charges before Judge Fritch on November 3, 2025.
On December 12, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Heritage Minerals Mine - also known as ASARCO - on Route 70 in Whiting for a report of a motor vehicle accident with submersion. Responding Officers spoke to a group of individuals who were operating Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs); the group related to the Officers that a UTV had driven into the lake at the center of the property, causing the UTV and its passengers to be submerged in the lake.

A subsequent investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and Manchester Township Police Department revealed that a UTV being driven by McGuire - which included James Grover, 62, also of Howell, and three minors as passengers - had entered the lake. The UTV and Mr. Grover did not resurface. The other passengers and members of the group attempted to locate Mr. Grover but were unsuccessful. Manchester Township Police and members of the Manchester, Ridgeway, and Whiting Volunteer Fire Companies conducted an underwater dive search and rescue operation and located the UTV overturned and submerged in 25 feet of water. Mr. Grover was attached to the UTV by his safety harness. Mr. Grover was removed from his safety harness, and life saving measures were attempted by Manchester Township Emergency Medical Technicians and Robert Wood Johnson paramedics. Mr. Grover succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In furtherance of the investigation, McGuire was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River. A warrant was obtained for a draw of his blood; laboratory results from the blood draw revealed that McGuire had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .127. In the State of New Jersey, an operator of a motor vehicle is presumed to be over the legal limit for purposes of alcohol consumption where his/her BAC is .08 or greater.

On January 5, 2021, McGuire was arrested without incident at his residence in Howell by Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad and Officers from Manchester Township Police Department. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail and subsequently released as a consequence of New Jersey Bail Reform.

“This disposition of this case was reached only after extensive discussions with the family of Mr. Grover, who expressed an unequivocal desire to extend mercy to this defendant,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated. “Their compassionate and forgiving nature brings this very difficult chapter to a close and permits the healing process to begin; we hope this resolution provides Mr. Grover’s family with some level of peace,” Prosecutor Billhimer concluded.

Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the diligent efforts of Senior Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Burke handled the case on behalf of the State and commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Victim Witness Advocacy Unit, Manchester Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Manchester Township Volunteer Fire Company, Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company, Whiting Volunteer Fire Company, Manchester Township Emergency Medical Services, Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, and Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.

My friend Ally is killing it! You go girl

I don’t say this nearly enough. As we wrap up what was likely the busiest week of the year—second only to back-to-school and the holidays for us lawyers—the numbers are officially in. Records were broken. And yes… it’s jaw-dropping. 2025 was a wild year for my office.

But let’s be clear—none of this happens without you. Our clients, my staff, our associate attorneys, our family, the social media follows, and our talent all coming together is what makes this a true dream team. Every single person plays a role, and it shows.

We didn’t get here by playing small, staying quiet, or sitting on our hands. We got here by working hard, showing up every day, and fighting like hell for the people who trusted us when their lives felt upside down. That kind of trust is powerful—and it’s not lost on me for a second.

Today, I’m grateful. Grateful for the growth, the grind, the wins, social media, and most of all, the people who believed in us. I’m honored to do this work, and I’m beyond thankful to everyone who stands with me.

The Hackensack Police Department announces the arrest of Armando Echevarria (DOB 8/11/1979, landscaper) of Hackensack, NJ for committing two residential burglaries, including one in which a thirteen year old girl was home alone.

On 1/08/2025, at 10:39 AM, Echevarria entered an unlocked front door of an apartment in a two-family dwelling on Union Street. While rummaging through the rooms, he encountered the young girl sleeping, and she was awoken by his flashlight. He quickly exited her room and fled the apartment with two 18-carat gold necklaces worth several thousand dollars.

Surveillance video showed the suspect flee in a black Kia Soul, and the PD’s CCTV system and Automated License Plate Reader System were used to identify and locate the vehicle. Police stopped the Kia, seized gloves and a pry bar from the front seat, and Echevarria was arrested.

Echevarria was criminally charged with Burglary (2C:18-2), Theft (2C:20-3b), and Possession of Burglar Tools (2C:5-5a(1)). Additionally, Detective Matthew DeBonis identified Echevarria as the suspect of another burglary that occurred a few blocks away on 11/15/2025, in which he climbed through a bedroom window and took several pieces of jewelry. Echevarria was charged with Burglary and Theft, and he was remanded to Bergen County Jail on Complaint Warrants.

These charges are merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
