Finding the Rest of Me is a wonderful story of one person’s quest to learn about her birth family. Be sure to meet Jan this Saturday at The Kentucky Bookstore in Lawrenceburg.

Have you ever wondered if there was a piece of your story you didn’t know? That’s the question Kentucky author Jan Lawson Schiffer set out to answer in Finding the Rest of Me.

What started as a simple desire to learn more about where she came from became a journey through adoption records, family history, unexpected discoveries, and a deeper understanding of her own story. Along the way, she also uncovered the history of Friends Rescue Home, a Kentucky home for u***d mothers whose story has largely faded from memory.

This Saturday, you’ll have the chance to meet Jan in person, hear about her journey, and have your book signed.

💕 I’m so honored to have my books highlighted at this treasure of a bookstore! Be sure to find time to visit. You’ll often find local authors there having conversations with folks about books.

That’s what I love about the books of Kentucky author Carol June Franks. If you’ve visited The Kentucky Bookstore lately, you’ve probably noticed our children’s display filled with farm-themed books. Carol’s stories fit right in. From What Farm Boots Are For to Potatoes, Papaw, and Me and The Silent Tree Remembers, her books celebrate family, nature, imagination, and the simple joys of Kentucky life.

As a retired Kentucky educator, Carol spent years helping children discover a love of reading, and that passion shines through in her stories. These beautifully illustrated books make wonderful gifts for children, grandchildren, classrooms, and young readers who enjoy stories rooted in family values and rural life.

We’re proud to carry signed copies right here in Lawrenceburg.

And here’s some exciting news… Carol June Franks will be joining us for a book signing this FALL. We don’t have a date finalized yet, but keep an eye on our page and website for details.
