My dog, Max, wasn’t just a pet — he was my shadow, my comfort, my home. Every morning, I woke up to his wagging tail and sleepy eyes. He followed me everywhere, even when I only left the room for a moment. His presence was quiet but constant, like a heartbeat you don’t notice until it’s gone.

Then one day, he didn’t wake up.

The house feels too big now. The silence is heavier. His favorite corner by the window is still there, untouched — but it's just a corner now, no longer warm with life. I catch myself reaching for his leash or dropping a little food on the floor, expecting him to be there. But he isn’t.

People say “he was just a dog,” but they don’t understand. He was a part of me — the best part. And now, there's a hole in my heart that no words can fill.

I still whisper "good boy" sometimes, hoping he hears me — wherever he is.
