When longtime collaborator Athena Hiotis reached out for a quick introductory promo shoot for her new band, Circuit Villains, we could not resist. Raw, in-your-face, unapologetic rock.
Check out one of the freshest bands to come out of Baltimore!
This isn't pre-rendered. This is real-time raytracing. For those of us working on VFX and integrating 3D into video, this is massive.

Every once in a while, I'll come across a music video that gives me absolute envy. This is one of them. Stellar cinematography, a compelling character, and the most unexpected twist.

Shot from our concept trailer for The Emergence. In a symbolic way, this shot mirrors my own struggle with life as a creative. It is through strength and persistence that you overcome self doubt.
So keep at it, my friends. No one can take it away from you.

ALL I NEED IS ONE LIGHT, ONE LIGHT.
CGI research and development. Using Google Street View app to capture a 360° environment map to help integration with live plate.
Canon C200 announced. Internal 4k raw. 15 stops dynamic range.
Camera technology is about to plateau.
Ever wonder how CG artists integrate 3D elements seamlessly into a scene? Well, it starts with recreating the camera as point clouds. This is incredibly task-intensive, featuring math operations I can't even begin to understand, and resulting with a 3D plane full of points and a moving camera that moves in accurately-scaled spaces. You add your models, verify camera movement accuracy, then composite to your footage afterwards.
A 10-second shot will take *days* to complete...
I have an announcement to make.
For the past few months, I've been working with an amazing team of storytellers to bring to life a unique take on the 'alien invasion' sci-fi trope. THE EMERGENCE is an anthology of stories of every day people dealing with the life-changing events post-first-contact. I'm pleased to announce that the pilot episode will be shot this summer and hopefully out by this fall.
We'll have a page up soon for the show (among other social media presence), so make sure you follow those to keep up to date on the progress of this ambitious project.
In the meantime, please enjoy the first promo image for our show.

Color me impressed.
We did a deep dive with Blackmagic into the many new features of Resolve 14.
Last night my sister reminded me that, when I was a teenager, my dad had purchased a brand-new video camera that had a very nifty stop-motion button. So I ended up making a one-minute stop motion film featuring a clay character and a car.
I have been literally 'making movies' since I was a child, a detail I had completely forgotten about (though I will always remember writing "a movie script" (ten pages of story on a school notebook's leftover real estate) in my early teens.
Film has always been a passion of mine. Funny how little childhood details can help you feel more confident that you're truly pursuing the right path.
