Cast iron grill pans seem to be one of those things people either love or never touch.

Do you use yours? If so, what are you cooking in it?

If you know cast iron… you can spot a BSR from across the room 👀

One of the easiest ways to identify old unmarked Birmingham Stove & Range skillets is the handle design on the underside. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

A few quick BSR facts for y’all👇

• BSR was in business from the early 1900s until 1992
• Their cooking surfaces were often smoothed with distinctive machine swirl marks instead of the mirror-polished finish you’d see on older Griswold pieces
• They eventually went out of business because cheaper imported cookware and changing cooking trends made it hard for American cast iron companies to compete

Still some of the best cooking iron ever made in my opinion.

What’s your favorite piece of BSR you own? 👇

Three notches… but why? 🤔

What was Lodge’s reason for putting those three notches in the heat ring? Let’s hear what y’all know in the comments!

Light, smooth, and affordable. That’s a pretty good argument for giving this skillet a spot on the stove. 🍳

This single notch Lodge gets a restoration, and I talk about why a skillet like this can become a prized possession in your kitchen. It’s comfortable to handle, has that smooth cooking surface, and doesn’t have to break the bank.

I love a piece of old iron you can put right back to work.

What’s the one skillet in your kitchen you wouldn’t part with?

Does a smooth cooking surface automatically make cast iron nonstick?

I want to hear what y’all think. Is the smooth surface the key, or does seasoning and cooking technique matter more?

Sometimes the e-tank gets you close… but the vinegar bath finishes the job. 👀

After pulling these skillets from the tank, there was still carbon buildup and black rust hanging on. A quick vinegar bath stripped it all the way down to bare iron and showed just how much life these old pieces still have left in them.

It’s honestly wild that cookware made decades ago can still be brought back like this.

Will we ever make things designed to last this long again?

Somebody 50 years from now is gonna wish they bought one of these…

So what do you think—what cast iron being made TODAY becomes the next Griswold/Wagner level collectible?

Is it the small-batch stuff? The classics still being made? Or something nobody’s paying attention to yet?

👇 Drop your pick in the comments… let’s see who’s right in 2075** 😏
