ExxonMobil Invests in Local Workforce Training

Baton Rouge Community College just received a major boost for its North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative (NBRITI), thanks to a $220,000 contribution from ExxonMobil. The program offers free, fast-tracked training in high-demand industrial crafts, giving local residents the certifications needed to launch lasting careers in the region’s industrial sector.

NBRITI has become a vital pipeline for preparing students for jobs in welding, pipefitting, and electrical work, careers that keep Louisiana’s workforce strong and competitive. ExxonMobil says the donation is part of its commitment to building opportunity in the Baton Rouge area and supporting programs that directly benefit families and communities.

With this investment, even more students will have access to life-changing training that connects them to good jobs close to home.

LSU Honors Six Legends at Hall of Fame Induction

On Sept. 19, LSU added six outstanding figures to its Athletics Hall of Fame, celebrating careers that shaped Tiger history. The new inductees are:

Temeka Johnson ‒ Women’s Basketball
Cornelia Gayden ‒ Women’s Basketball
Ronald Dupree ‒ Men’s Basketball
J. Perry Cole ‒ Golf Coach
John Brady ‒ Men’s Basketball Coach
Rheagan Courville Branton ‒ Gymnastics

Johnson, a four-time All-American, helped LSU reach its first two Final Four appearances. Branton, 23-time All-American gymnast, played a key role in building LSU’s gymnastics into a national powerhouse.

Each inductee was presented with a commemorative ring, and their names will be permanently enshrined in LSU’s storied sports tradition.💜💛

Dutch Bros Coffee Brewing Up Baton Rouge Debut

Dutch Bros Coffee is on its way to Baton Rouge, bringing one of the nation’s fastest-growing coffee chains to the Capital City. Known for its energetic drive-thru culture and wide menu of creative drinks, the company plans to open its first local location next year.

The move marks another step in Baton Rouge’s booming coffee scene, where more chains and local shops continue to pop up across the city. With Dutch Bros entering the mix, coffee lovers will soon have yet another spot to fuel up and kickstart their day.

The new shop will be located on Frogmore Drive, just off West Lee near Burbank. Its spot in this growing area near LSU and new developments makes it a convenient stop for students, commuters, and nearby residents alike.

🌶️ The Rotolo’s Pizzeria pizza of the month is a Hatch Chili Pizza and is it ever spicy. This thing starts with a creamy Hatch chili sauce base, layered with mozzarella, crumbled sausage, Canadian bacon, and red onion. Its finished off with fresh roasted Hatch chiles giving it even more of a kick. BRAVO on this creation, Rotolo's. It's my kinda pizza.
