Keeping Baton Rouge Beautiful: Volunteers and Entergy Launch Expanded Cleanup Effort

Entergy Louisiana has partnered with two Baton Rouge volunteer groups, Keep Tiger Town Beautiful and Keep Jaguar Nation Beautiful, to expand weekly cleanup efforts across the city. The partnership provides volunteers with gloves, trash bags, and safety vests through Entergy’s community outreach program.

From Mid City to North Baton Rouge, the groups continue to clear roadsides, medians, and waterways at no cost to taxpayers. Organizers say the effort goes beyond litter removal. It builds local pride and shows how residents and students can work together to make Baton Rouge a cleaner, more connected community.

Seventh Annual CALEF Golf Tournament Helps Provide 50 New Safety Vests to Local Officers

The 7th annual Capital Area Law Enforcement Foundation golf tournament brought out around 150 golfers this year, raising funds to donate 50 new ballistic vests to multiple area police departments.

Each vest costs roughly $2,000, making this a meaningful boost for officer safety across Baton Rouge and the surrounding communities. Departments receiving vests include BRPD, LSU Police, and Southern University Police.

CALEF began in 2016 and has since donated more than 2,500 protective vests region-wide. Strong community support and local business sponsorships helped make this year’s tournament one of their most successful yet.

LSU Lady Tigers Roll in Season Opener, 108–55

The LSU women’s basketball team opened their season in dominant fashion tonight at the PMAC, cruising past Houston Christian 108–55.

LSU controlled the game from the start, building a comfortable lead early and never slowing down. Junior guard MiLaysia Fulwiley set the pace with 21 points, while freshman guard ZaKiyah Johnson recorded her first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The team shot efficiently from the field and showed depth across the roster, with several players contributing on both ends of the court.

A confident and focused start to the season for the defending SEC champions as they look ahead to tougher matchups on the schedule.
