What a beautiful offering! You won’t want to miss these.

Join us at Kalamazoo’s historic and resource yourself with holistic labor and birth preparation. These workshops journey through the body, mind, and spiritual components of what many describe as a transformative or pivotal experience in their lives. These three workshops, which can be taken individually or as a comprehensive series, weave embodiment practices with childbirth education reinforced by the unique insights of a local, experienced doula.

Connect with your evolving body, finetune your growing intuition, customize practical tools, and clarify your birth vision in one of the most impactful ways we humans ever have: in community.

Workshop 1: Body
Sunday June 2nd
10am-12pm
Explore labor as a somatic practice by way of biomechanics and physiology

Workshop 2: Mind
Sunday June 9th
10am-12pm
Delve into the brain waves of labor and how to prepare for an alternate state of consciousness

Workshop 3: Spirit
Sunday June 23rd
10am-12pm
Hold and be held by community as you prepare tools for your birth space

Each workshop will be capped at 8 participants. Yoga mats, blankets, and blocks will be provided. Please bring an extra mat if you prefer and yoga bolster or pillow if one is available to you.

$55 for individual workshops, $150 when you sign up for all 3.

All participants will receive a free copy of Mindful Matrescence’s birth plan/preferences template and sample, a tool specially created in response to what I’ve experienced as a doula at both Bronson and Borgess.

Folks who sign up for all 3 will also receive a free copy of The Mindful Matrescence Birth Resource Guide filled with doula-vetted books, podcast episodes, articles, studies, and a list of local practitioners who are ready to support your journey to and through birth.

A beautiful offering!

Join holistic postpartum care specialist, Christine Anderson, for an in-person series to help you prepare for your postpartum rest. This workshop is open to all birthing folks who are currently pregnant or preparing for pregnancy.

During this series, we will explore rhythms and rituals, connect with community, navigate boundaries for you and your family, and learn aspects of postpartum nourishment through an Ayurvedic lens. We’ll dive into physical transitions throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum, and simple, restorative practices to support you through each transition.

We will meet on three consecutive Fridays for 2 hours. We welcome all participants to arrive 15 minutes early to settle and grab a cup of tea before we begin at 6:00pm. Each session will begin with a group check-in, and overview of content to cover. Next we will ebb and flow through educational materials and conversation, and finish with breathwork and meditation.

What to expect:

- three 2 hour in-person group sessions

- postpartum recipe booklet

- pre/postnatal community resources

Hyperemesis Gravidarum awareness in ASL!

Vivienne and the support group she’s referencing (Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)) were such a help to me and several of my loved ones that also went through HG.

If you are going through this, you’re not alone.

Auburn Birthing Center is open!!!

Why do I like sharing images of a baby with a placenta? Because I think, so often, we forget how *bodily* this experience is...

During pregnancy there are flowy dresses and belly oil...and once the baby is here? Well the baby easily becomes everyone's main interest. And we say words like wonder, love, adore, cherish because giving birth IS this hugely emotional experience.

But we grow these babies inside of our bodies...we grow an entire human and an entire organ...and then we give birth to both in a sea of amniotic fluid and blood.

I think images like this remind me of how much bodily work it is to grow a human. It's incredible and messy and beautiful and raw. And it's powerful. You can't look at images like this and not be blown away by how powerful giving birth can be...

I love this so much! I love seeing all the new home birth midwives in SW Michigan!

Couldn’t think of a better announcement to close out Black History Month! If you don’t already have the pleasure of knowing her, please allow us to introduce you to Ashley Jungjohan, CPM!

We know we aren’t the only Black Women in Kalamazoo to Internet search/ask around “Are there any Black Midwives around Kalamazoo?” The answer is finally YES!

We couldn’t make a more confident referral than Ashley. She attended the homebirths of both of Bri’s babies as a student, so we know intimately how she provides incredible, family centered care for her clients, her passion for improving birth in our community, and the loving spirit she brings to her work.
We can’t wait for the day we get to attend a birth with her as Doulas.

We are so proud of Ashley and extremely lucky to have her in South West Michigan! Congratulate her with us! Give her her flowers, and share to spread the news! 💐
