My first yoga class I went to, circa 2004, felt like a weird stretchy class. I had to look around to see what I was supposed to be doing. Then that nap thing at the end really confused me (I was young and didn’t value rest then 😅)
It was another ten years before yoga re-entered my life. What flipped for me was the experience of coherence, this internal alignment of arriving at home in my body during a yoga class. That nap pose at the end became a sanctuary where soundless tears released all the hiding, perfection building and stuck-in-my-head narratives onto my mat.
Yoga is a practice of returning home to yourself, again and again. My yoga teacher has wired that into my way of practice. 🙏
