🧧 Celebrating Lunar New Year — Honoring My Daughter’s Heritage
Today we welcome a new beginning — and for our family, this celebration carries deeper meaning.
Lunar New Year isn’t just about turning a page on the calendar. It’s about honoring heritage, family, and the traditions that shape who we are. As a mother, this day reminds me how powerful identity is — especially when it’s layered with culture and history.
My daughter carries a beautiful blend of Chinese and Vietnamese heritage, and each Lunar New Year is a reminder of the richness rooted within her. From the symbolism of red for protection and prosperity, to the giving of red envelopes as blessings for abundance and luck — these traditions are more than customs. They are stories passed down through generations.
They are resilience.
They are respect.
They are remembrance.
And while we celebrate Lunar New Year now, we also look forward to Lao New Year in April — another beautiful reminder that renewal comes in seasons, not just once a year. I love that our family experiences multiple new beginnings. It teaches us that growth is ongoing.
This Year of the Horse symbolizes strength, independence, forward movement, and courage. When I look at my daughter, I see all of that reflected in her spirit.
I pray she always walks boldly in who she is — confident in her roots, proud of her heritage, and fearless in becoming who she is meant to be.
Today we celebrate renewal.
We celebrate family.
We celebrate identity.
Happy Lunar New Year 🧧
May this year bring strength, wisdom, protection, and abundance to your home and mine.
