The not so fun side of farming: death

I am having a hard time with duck eggs! As you know, I had one duckling in the incubator that looked like it was going to make it..fully developed it never pipped. I had 2 duck eggs a goose was sitting on.. one of those disappeared ( i think they ate it), another one pipped and was looking so good. I stole it and put it under a heat lamp, was misting it, it's beak was fully out and it was making all kinds of noise..I returned and it passed also. Ughh!!

I now have 11 eggs under one goose and 5 under another...Hopefully this will show better results. 🤞🤞

We've been introducing the ducklings to the flock and you almost can't tell them apart now!

Also, these kennels are amazing. We use them for dogs and as a brooder!

We've been busy working on the garden setup. Today we planted onions, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, red/green cabbage, and Brussel sprouts. The timed drip system is going to be so nice this summer. 😃

Dehydrated Morels. 🤤

Dehydrating is our preferred method to store morels, they last several years and still taste delicious. Plus they don't take up freezer space! Win-win!

Spent the day in the woods. Morels are our favorite thing to forage, along with dandelions.

Do you forage? What do you hunt for?
