Good Monday morning! We're looking at low 90s today, with a heat index of 100-104°F, which isn't too bad for August. There's a 20-30% chance of showers in SETX and SWLA from Beaumont to Lake Charles and up to the lakes region.

However, areas further west—like Huntsville, Conroe, and Houston—could see higher coverage of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon between 1 and 4 PM. These storms may bring 30-40 mph winds and a lot of lightning.

The Tropics are expected to remain quiet in the Gulf over the next 5-7 days. There are two areas outside of the Gulf with potential for development.

The 1st area: is located off the east coast, where there is a 50% chance of development into a Subtropical system or a Tropical Depression/Storm as it moves away from the U.S.

The 2nd area: A Tropical wave forecast to move off the west coast of Africa in the next day or two. Some gradual development is possible, but it will battle dry stable air, with a 30% chance for development over the next 7 days. An early look at the upper-level flow suggests that this system should remain away from the Caribbean and the Gulf. As always we will continue to monitor.

Tomorrow should be mostly dry for Southeast Texas and Southwest Lousiana and then we should see some slight rain chances coming up for next week. Highs will be near normal in the low to mid 90s. Lows will be slightly cooler tonight and Monday. Some upper 60s are possible for our northern counties and parishes on Monday morning!

A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are present in parts of Southwest Louisiana this afternoon and in East Texas around Hemphill. These storms will continue for the next few hours then should diminish towards sunset. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are not expected for Southeast Texas this evening due to limited instability from showers and thunderstorms earlier today.

Active north of I-10 from the Livingston, Cleveland, and Kingwood areas as the boundary continues to push southward. Light to moderate rain is moving into the Sour Lake and Kountze regions. The overall trend keeps the heaviest rainfall west of SWLA and possibly even portions of SETX like Orange County.

Will continue to provide updates… additional showers and storms are possible this afternoon

08/02/2025

Current radar loop shows that showers and thunderstorms are gradually developing and spreading across the region. Activity is expected to increase over the next few hours. Due to the early development, there is a chance this may impact the evening forecast shifting the timeframe earlier in the day for the greatest chance of storms. We will let you know of any more changes in trends if we see them.

Good Saturday morning! We're already seeing some showers and storms in parts of the lakes region, particularly near Lufkin and Lake Sam Rayburn area. This cluster of storms is moving southeast towards Jasper and Newton counties.

Later this afternoon and into the evenin , we can expect additional showers and thunderstorms as a weak frontal boundary moves into our region. Expect heavy downpours and frequent lightning, and there is a small potential that some of these stronger storms may produce strong wind gusts from straight-line winds. We'll keep you updated with radar as the line of storms moves through later this afternoon into the early evening hours.
