The Blue Bridge is scheduled to close for up to 90 days beginning Monday, July 14 at 9 p.m.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will be completing a necessary maintenance project. Work is scheduled on both sides of the Ohio River.

During construction, crews will be fully replacing one 750-ft. long span of concrete-filled bridge decking while making repairs to a second span of the same length.

The decking spans the entire width of the bridge surface, requiring a complete closure.

In addition to the new concrete driving surface, the contractor will tackle other long-term maintenance. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has coordinated work with the Indiana Department of Transportation to ensure the bridge will only be closed one time.

Drivers needing to cross the Ohio River should utilize the U.S. 231 William H. Natcher Bridge or the U.S. 41 Twin Bridges at Henderson.

The Blue Bridge opened to traffic in 1940. Around 7,200 vehicles use the span every day.
