That entire Purple Rain album changed me. The sound, the pain, the power. Still my #1. Reminds me of a summer trip, riding back, and listening to it on my Sony Walkman.
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) – Journey
When I needed to say goodbye to something… Reminds me of field trips in middle school.
Crazy Train – Ozzy Osbourne
From the first concert, 1981, to the very first riff I played on guitar, this album broke me open and put me back together. Iconic.
My Way – Frank Sinatra
The ultimate “I did it my way” anthem. Cried the first time I heard it… and still do.
Red Clay Strays – The entire band (especially tracks like “Wild Wild Love” & “No Place Like Home”)
These kids from the South just dropped a sound that feels like home, heartbreak, and hope all at once. New favorite album of 2025-2026.

EP REVIEW: BAD BURN: DJ CO SKULLFLY

There’s something genuinely refreshing about Bad Burn. It feels like the kind of release made because the artist had something to say... not because they were trying to fit into whatever happens to be trending.

DJ CO SKULLFLY brings a raw, energetic vibe to this EP that makes it easy to get lost in. There’s attitude here, but there’s also personality, and that combination is what makes Bad Burn stand out.

What I really appreciate is that it feels authentic. You can hear the passion behind it, and that goes a long way. This isn’t music that feels over-polished or manufactured.... it has character, edge, and a pulse of its own.

Bad Burn is a reminder that independent artists are still out there pushing themselves, experimenting, and creating something that comes from their own world.

And honestly? That’s what music should be about.

M. Shadows is 100% right. Traditional record labels have largely outlived their usefulness in 2026.
They used to bankroll albums, connect you with the right producers, get you into every major store, and force your song onto radio and MTV. That entire machine is gone. Now they promise the world and mostly push you toward TikTok — something any artist can (and should) do themselves.
The deals are still structured the same way: take an advance, then spend years paying it back before you ever see real money. If you can fund your own work, why hand over ownership and control?
Avenged Sevenfold finished their Warner deal and went independent for a reason. More artists should follow. The power has shifted. Labels that can’t deliver real value beyond what artists already have access to simply don’t matter the way they once did.

Avenged Sevenfold Rock Documented

Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows says the band does not see a point in ever signing with another record label, making it clear they intend to remain independent going forward. The comments reinforce the group’s long standing push for greater control over its music and career.

Shadows explained that traditional labels no longer provide enough value to justify giving up a share of the band’s revenue or creative freedom. Instead, Avenged Sevenfold has focused on direct fan engagement, new technology, and building its business on its own terms after fulfilling its previous label commitments.

Avenged Sevenfold has operated without a record label since completing its previous deal, and Shadows says the band expects that approach to continue for future releases. The decision reflects a broader shift toward artists maintaining ownership and control over how their music reaches fans.
