As part of a smear campaign when I was running for Tupelo mayor, many were circulating lies on social media and in whisper campaign that I had been kicked out of Harrisburg Baptist Church Tupelo. Such a lie, but that doesn’t prevent so-called Christians from participating in the deeds of darkness and deceit. Harrisburg Baptist actually gave me a letter of recommendation to another church, meaning I was a member in good standing of HBC.
People inside the church call themselves “Christian” but stir up the lies. Something Jesus and Paul routinely encountered and rebuked.
Truth of the matter is that I served on HBC finance and constitution committees and voted and spoke against measures church leadership wanted, like terminating church services, changing church governance to elder rule, compensation packages for terminated employees, disclosing church member financial contribution data to church members, and church leadership slush fund.
I had also addressed the personnel matters of church leadership alignment to woke-aligned organizations, church leader defaming people from the pulpit, preaching and teaching heresy, and sermon plagiarism. Also addressed these issues with chair and vice chair of deacons. Most all these things were documented in an open letter to HBC and submitted to personnel committee. My understanding is the committee and leadership took no corrective action or addressed the issues openly with the congregation. Two of the deacons, still members I think, came to my house during my daughter’s birthday party to try and intimidate me into silence. Didn’t work. All reported heresy, blasphemy, plagiarism, defamation, all affirmed by numerous mature believers, is well documented. There’s more but this is a start.
