I am disturbed by the ease
“Kilmar Garcia abducted by I.C.E. …”
That I carry
“Renee Good killed by I.C.E. …”
as I go on living my life
“Venezuelan president captured…”

I’m still clocking in and clocking out.

As our rights continue to erode
“National Guard deployed in Washington, DC…”
As blood runs through the streets
“Children taken from their homes in Chicago-“
As my neighbors get tear gassed
“Blood. Pain. Disorientation. Here’s what protestors say…”
As my colleagues get killed
“ICU nurse Alex Pretti shot by ICE...”

My fragile sense of normalcy crumbles.

I can't continue.
We can’t be free, until we are all free.
Waiting for my pin to drop.
We can’t be free, until we are all free.
Waiting for this to reach me.
We can’t be free, until we are all free.
There is no normalcy, we never had normalcy.
We can’t be free, until we are all free.

We shouldn’t be comfortable. You need to be disturbed too.

"Nuance isn't really great for engagement" is what former MAGA influencer Ashley St. Clair states in this video.

It's easy to throw in some inflammatory words to get the views. It's better for us all when we actually sit down and have nuanced conversations with each other.

Ashley St. Clair dropped out of college to become a full-time conservative influencer. Five years later, she was pregnant with Elon Musk’s child. Within mont...

Hello all, apologies for not making the yesterday's meeting Building Community: I'm Afraid to Break Bread.

I was stuck traveling from the Dominican Republic Tuesday to Wednesday, stranded at airports due to cancelled and delayed flights. I was tired and exhausted from travel and just wanted to be home. I will be more mindful of my calendar and schedule.

Thank you for your support.

I was living under a rock and didn't know who Charlie Kirk was before he died.

When he was murdered, it felt like the people I knew, changed. I tried to be open, ask questions to understand my immediate loved ones and was hitting a road block of confusion. I felt myself seeking safety and not wanting to delve deeper into this revelation I was living through with the people I love.

I decided to continue on with No Dumb Questions while I struggled to find my North Star.

Every week, every day, every moment, so much continues to happen that further widen the chasm.

So much feels wrong. I ask myself, "What if I can't break bread with those who differ from me? How do I build community if I can't imagine myself reaching over the aisle? How can I lead with kindness and understanding with everyone and everything feels so terrifying?"

To answer these questions, No Dumb Question's theme this year will be: Finding Community. This month's topic will be, "I am afraid to break bread."

Meeting are always free.

Come join us to talk about current events and this month's theme: Finding Community: I'm afraid to break bread.

Thank your local community leaders and builders! Thank the people who have created space, safe places and, warm environments for people to gather and find community in.

I learned a lot about what it takes to build your own space in the world this past year. I am thankful for the friends and folk who continuously showed up for any of the sessions and invested into this endeavor.

I am wishing for a happier, healthier and more connected new year for us all!

Cheers for what's to come!

Do you know of the indigenous connections to the land you live on?

For me, I live on Duwamish land and they're still very much here in Washington, as are other tribes. I recommend checking out the site below, to find out more about the land you live on. You can plug in your area code and learn of your local indigenous tribes.

Native Land is a resource to learn more about Indigenous territories, languages, lands, and ways of life. We welcome you to our site.
