Because that man who was so attracted to you when you were single and feeling empowered is the same man you lost yourself for.
And then you told yourself āNever again will I lose myself for a man!!!ā
But that wifey conditioning hits hard when new relationships blossom.
And before you know it, there you are again, orienting your words, thoughts, choices, and appearance around what you believe to be his preferences.
It becomes more of a house of mirrors than a relationship.
When it ends he leaves a āhimā shaped void. You are directionless without him, so you shape yourself around the memory of him (or you find someone else to replace him).
Agh! Make it stop!!!
If you happen to stay single long enough, you may find your way back to yourself, and hope to the high heavens not to lose yourself again.
Women, are selfless by nature, because of our inherent mother/caretaker instincts. That part of ourselves has been deeply exploited and socially reinforced over hundreds of generations. For so very long, it was in the interest of survival that we centered ourselves around men. At the risk of sounding like AI Iām going to say, youāre not failing or broken. This program was baked in for generations! Itās heavy lifting baby. šŖš¼
We need better for ourselves, our daughters and our sisters. Women now have the opportunity to make changes that our ancestors could only dream of.
This is about de-centering men and becoming self centered instead.
When I say self-centered, Iām talking about simply being the one at your own center. That means knowing and expressing your own authentic self and desires. From there, you can still negotiate, compromise and give generously of yourself , but without being anchored in your own center and your own desire first, you have no position to start from and nothing of yourself to give.
Iām a womanās empowerment coach and Iāve BEEN THERE! I plan to keep talking about these things, so If you relate to this and want to hear more, FOLLOW to stick around! Iām just getting started. š
Iām available for 1:1 coaching.
