Recent episodes include:

For more than 50 years, the stage at Cheatham Street Warehouse in San Marcos has served as a proving ground for generations of Texas songwriters. Artists arrive with a guitar, a handful of songs, and a hope that somebody might listen.

This clip from Texas Music Cafe captures Todd Snider talking about the first time he walked into Cheatham.

His story is legendary. But it isn’t unique.

That’s the beauty of Cheatham Street.

The walls have heard songs from people who would go on to become legends. They have also heard songs from artists nobody had discovered yet.

That’s why River Jam starts there.

On July 10, a new group of songwriters will step onto that same stage and add their names to a story that began long before any of us got here.

If you’ve never experienced Cheatham Street, this is your invitation.

River Jam 2026
July 10-12

Float. Jam. Repeat.

Sidenote - the folks at Texas Music Cafe have the best video archive of Texas Music out there. Check them out and support them. The full 10 min video will be linked in our comments and story.

Shelby Stone is a force of nature. Aura for days and she owns every stage she steps on. Just try and take your eyes and ears off her. Impossible.

Get in the room with Shelby Stone.

In the pantheon of Texas songwriters, Bruce Robison is near the top. Today also happens to be his birthday, so you know it’s a red letter day in Rayne, LA. No reason to be angry all the time because this is the good life. He and his brother think what would Willie do?

HBD Bruce!
