PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS! Don't miss your chance to include a shout-out in next week's March 13 edition of The Republic for your favorite athlete or student. Shout-outs for students in all grades are welcome - recognize your winter sports athlete, or your music or acting student who has achieved something, or your favorite student just for the fun of it! Costs are:
Options are:
1) 1 x 1.5-inch Shout-Out - $20 for one athlete/student, $15 each for 2 or more athletes/students. Enough room for Athlete name and short message, like “Great work!” or “Thanks for a great season!”
2) 1 x 3-inch Shout-Out - $30 for one athlete/student, $25 each for 2 or more. Enough room for Athlete name and short message with a photo.
3) 2 x 3-inch Shout-Out - $45 for one athlete/student, $40 each for 2 or more. Enough room for Athlete name, longer message, and photo.
To sign up, email [email protected] with the photo and message. DEADLINE is this Friday, March 7, at noon. Include a phone number so we can call for payment. Shout-Outs must be paid in advance.

PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS OF FALL ATHLETES: Do you have your order in for an Athletic Shout-Out? These will be published in next week's Republic newspaper (Oct. 24). Make sure your athlete isn't missed! Any athlete involved in fall sports is eligible to receive a shout out, but it is particularly encouraged for senior athletes.Options:1) 1 x 1.5 inch Shout Out - $20 for one athlete, $15 each for 2 or more athletes -- provides enough space for athlete's name and a short message2) 1 x 3 inch Shout Out - $30 for one athlete, $25 each for 2 or more -- provides enough space for athlete's name, accomplishments, and a short message or small photo3) 2 column by 3” ad - $45 for one athlete, $40 each for two or more -- provides enough space for name, accomplishments, message and a photo of the athleteThe deadline to sign up for a shout out is this FRIDAY, Oct. 18, at noon. VETERANS: The Republic is planning a special section in the November 7 edition of the paper to honor area veterans. If you would like to be included, please send a photo of the veteran in uniform (head shot is fine), the veteran's name, the veteran's town (Beresford, Hudson, Alcester, etc.), the veteran's years of service and what branch/branches they serve. Email this information to: mailto:[email protected]. Deadline to be included is Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024. If you have further questions, call Editor Riva Sharples at: 605-760-5799.

Held on April 15th of each year, “Purple Up! For Military Kids” is a day for Department of Defense Education Activity communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Purple Up! Day will be celebrated on Monday, April 15, 2024, so remember to Purple Up to show our thanks!

One of our favorite things to do here at The Republic is to cover all of the wonderful accomplishments of the kids from our towns, and wow did they ever give us plenty to cover this week! We have coverage of Beresford's Prom and upcoming production of The Addams Family Musical, Alcester-Hudson's production of Clue and their FCCLA Star Event Open House and Award Banquet, and of course sports, sports and more sports. And you won't want to miss Anita's story on BHS 2017 graduate Cait Savey, who will be competing in the Boston Marathon this month! You can pick up your copy on the newstands today.
