For parents of children with Down syndrome and other caregivers, read this important article by Woodbine House author Pat Winders and others: A Schedule of Gross Motor Development for Children with Down Syndrome, published in Journal of Intellectual Disability Research http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/jir.12580

It describes the findings of a study which show that gross motor development of children with Down syndrome can now be more appropriately compared to that of other children with Down syndrome rather than to typically developing children as has been previously done.

For specific guidance on teaching skills to children, consult Pat Winders' book, Gross Motor Skills for Children with Down Syndrome, now on sale at https://www.woodbinehouse.com/product/gross-motor-skills-for-children-with-down-syndrome/
