Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster is already infamous for its barely audible exchanges. As sound technology advances, why are films getting harder to hear?
So I've been following this project from it's start. It's first efforts were pretty bad, but over the last 18 months, it's progressed to this.
What happens in the next 5 years?
Every time I bring that question up with composers, the response pretty much boils down to "They will never be able to capture that "ineffable" quality that only a human composer can bring...!"
I say that for media work, clients won't give a damn about said "ineffable qualities" if the audience can't tell the difference and it's cheaper and faster to get to usable results. (Remember. I'm talking media jobs here, not necessarily "high art".)
I'll say it again: Ignore this stuff and don't figure out how to integrate it into your workflow and you will go the way of traditional graphic designers and typesetters back in the 80s.

A follow up on yesterday’s post.
New Fangled Audio released Pendulate a free mono synth plugin with some very unique approaches to sound and control. It looks absolutely fantastic. This short video gives a great overview. CDM had a nice article about it today also. (Link in the comments.)
This thing is free. There is no reason not to give it a whirl. And knowing New Fangled, at some point there will be a poly version and having the free version might qualify for a discounted upgrade price.
Check it out.

Sure, 808 Day is coming. But enough x0x sequencers and simple step patterns. You need insane amounts of notes being spewed out of a pro 3D tool - clearly.
