A rude woman mocked me by the pool, saying I "should be ASHAMED to wear a swimsuit at my age" — what my 6-year-old granddaughter did next left her trembling. After my daughter and her husband passed away in a car accident, I took custody of my five-year-old granddaughter, Amelia. At 65, I became not only a grandmother but also a mother again. That year was incredibly hard. I worked double shifts at a grocery store to provide everything Amelia needed because my pension wasn't enough. But over time, things slowly got better after I finally paid off my mortgage. As Amelia's sixth birthday approached, I decided I wanted to celebrate it properly. I wanted to invite her friends and order a beautiful birthday cake. But instead, Amelia said: "Grandma, I just want us to spend one day relaxing together." So I booked two poolside lounge chairs at a resort just outside the city. Amelia also asked if we could order matching swimsuits so we'd look like "one team." We arrived at the pool and immediately went into the water together. But the moment we got out, a woman called out to me: "OH MY GOD, AREN'T YOU ASHAMED?" I turned around. A woman who looked to be about thirty, wearing a revealing swimsuit and a sun hat, was standing right behind us. I asked: "Excuse me, ma'am, were you talking to me? Did I do something wrong?" She burst out laughing and said: "Have you seen what you look like in a swimsuit? At YOUR AGE, you shouldn't be wearing one. You should be ashamed of yourself. There are children here." My voice trembled. "But... it's a full-coverage swimsuit..." She just kept laughing. Then she said I should be wearing clothes that covered my entire body, even at the pool. Behind her, her friends sat there, giggling to themselves. I felt humiliated. Then Amelia told me she needed to use the restroom. She was gone for about ten minutes. When she came back, she walked straight up to that rude woman and did something I WOULD NEVER HAVE DARED TO DO. The woman SCREAMED so loudly, they probably heard her all the way in space.
