LET'S SUPPORT NEUROFIBROMATOSIS RESEARCH AND AWARENESS! On May 8th, the NF Network hosts their inaugural New York City benefit, the NF Hope Concert. This is a superb cause that will go a long way towards providing crucial research against a rare but often fatal disease. Presented at SubCulture, this event will feature some of Broadway’s brightest talent coming together to raise money for the Neurofibromatosis Network, a non-profit organization whose mission is “to find treatments and a cure for Neurofibromatosis by promoting scientific research, improving clinical care, providing outreach through education and awareness, while offering hope and support to those affected by NF.”
After six successful benefit concerts in Las Vegas, the NF Hope Concert is coming to the theater capital of the world, bringing along some fabulous talent. The organizer, Jeff Leibow, formerly of Jersey Boys, has brought together The Doo Wop Project (with Tony Award Nominee Charl Brown, Russell Fischer, Dwayne Milan, Dominic Nolfi, Dominic Scaglione Jr.), Chad Kimball (Tony Award nominee, Memphis, Come From Away), Aaron Ramey (The Bridges Of Madison County, Curtains, Young Frankenstein), Mary Callanan (Bandstand, Mama Mia), Laurel Harris (Beautiful, In Transit, Wicked), Rob Marnell (Beautiful, Jersey Boys), Jenny Lee Stern (Rocky, Jersey Boys), Nasia Thomas (Beautiful) and others.
Two years ago, Mr. Leibow made the difficult decision to leave his role in the Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys for the role of Director of the NF Network. 7 years ago, Jeff’s nine-month-old daughter was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis, an incurable neurological disorder, characterized by tumors that grow all over the nervous system. Rather than simply accepting the severity of a disease with no cure or treatment, Jeff has led the fight against NF on the national level, taking the battle all the way to Congress and used his connections in the world of theater to raise awareness and financial support for the fight against NF.
Since its inaugural event in 2011, the NF Hope Concert has raised close to $500,000; every year raising more money than the previous year.
Tickets start at $75 and are available online at http://nfhope.org/NYCConcert
