Happy Chanukah 🕎
Tonight we light the menorah in honor of Bondi Beach and those we lost who were honoring Jewish Joy. We light in honor of every one of our ancestors who refused to dim themselves in the face of persecution. We light because Jewish Joy is the greatest antidote to antisemitism.
We have survived this long because of our refusal to back down, but instead lean into what makes us who we are as Jews. Tonight, and every night this week, is an opportunity to embrace our traditions and practice as Jewish people.
So, for those of you who forgot how, here’s how to properly light your menorah (don’t worry, I asked my orthodox Rabbi).
