Unlike most leather garments which are mass-produced from pre-dyed and treated skins, Blur leather is blank-garment dyed, that is, after the garment has been sewn. This requires expert sewers who carefully size garments to allow for shrinkage and other changes that occur during the dying and distressing process. Once each garment is beautifully dyed and treated with multiple time-consuming aging techniques, it is returned to the sewers for yet more finishing work. Designer Farshid Javaheri is often asked by top fashion journalists how Blur creates such unique leather garments with such edgy, vintage appeal. His response, "We use very specific thicknesses of leather and our special "Mestizo" (meaning 'mixed') treatment allows us to treat the leather almost like a textile, creating incredible softness and unique intricate details. Thanks to our techniques, we can guarantee our customers exclusivity. It is virtually impossible to create two garments that are alike as we can produce only a limted number of the art pieces."
