It's easy to discover a town's connection to their rivers and streams. Many settlements were established along the waters for their natural resources and opportunities for transportation of goods or people. Today, many towns depend on them for recreation and often tourism.
This is Crane Creek in Stone County it has one of the few rainbow trout populations that are maintained exclusively by natural reproduction (not continued stocking). Residents are eager to brag on its wild population origins from the McCloud River in California decades ago.
It's fun to see the stream connections to our culture throughout the state.

One does not simply “become” a master of karate. First you must accidentally walk into a spiderweb.

In your face. Literally. National parks offer many opportunities to hit the trail! Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between. Hmm, walking into spiderweb = great cardio. In conclusion, the early bird gets the face full of spiderwebs. Sleep in. Or bring a friend. (Maybe a tall friend, just saying.) Get ready, adventure awaits.

I have always had this idea of using photography to document things before they are lost to time. Today that idea started to become a reality, and the thing to document became this man.

Jerry allowed me into his jig room today. It’s not an easy place to get into. He doesn’t let many people know that it exists and even fewer are allowed inside. I have been sworn to secrecy of its exact location.

And though he's not sure of the big guy with all the fancy cameras and lights, I have been given permission to spend some time with Jerry and his family to document some of his experiences of growing up in the Ozarks. We will focus mainly on the outdoors, but after just spending a few hours with Jerry, you never know where the story is going.

So much more to come.
