October 29, 2025.
Another chapter in the same woods I’ve walked for years.

We’ve watched Bully for the past four seasons — always close, but never quite able to close the gap. He wasn’t the biggest rack in the woods, but he earned his name the hard way — big-bodied, tough, and running off bucks that were bigger than him.

After the shot, we tracked him for about 300 yards before the blood thinned out and the rain moved in. We backed out, knowing pushing further wasn’t the right call. The next morning, the sound of the fire department set the coyotes off all around the creek — and that’s how was able to locate him with the drone. I’m grateful we were able to bring his story to a respectful close.

After 10+ years of chasing whitetails, I’ve learned these deer don’t owe us anything.
But every now and then, they give us a moment that sticks with you forever.

Another deer season has come and gone, and with each one, our respect for these incredible animals only grows. To us, hunting has never been just about the harvest—it’s about the challenge, the patience, and the deeper connection to God’s creation. Grateful for every sunrise and sunset in the stand, every lesson learned, and every moment spent in His creation. Thank you, Lord, for the beauty of Your work and the memories made along the way. Until next season…

This is the story of an incredible whitetail we called Tank. My first encounter with him was on 12/9, during a rainy hunt. Tank appeared just 10 yards away but caught me on my off side after sneaking in behind me through the rain. After staring at me for 30 seconds, he trotted off. I got photos of him that night but didn’t see him again until 12/27—the day I shot him.

That day, the conditions were perfect: rain all day with a brief clear window before dark. At 3:50 p.m., Tank appeared. I adjusted in my saddle for the shot and fired the crossbow, confident in my aim. The hit sounded solid, but Tank bolted 60 yards and stopped briefly before running off again. When I found the bolt, it was clean, with only a spec of blood—likely wiped off by wet grass. I followed a heavy blood trail for 115 yards before the rain started pouring.

Not wanting to take any chances, I called a dog tracker, who located Tank’s trail quickly but lost him in a nearby river. We brought in a drone operator later that night, and within minutes, the drone spotted Tank just a few hundred yards down the river from where the dogs left him. At 8am the next morning we were able go in and recover him. It was an incredible journey to recover the biggest buck of my life. Good is so good and I’m so thankful for everyone who was involved who gave their best effort to help to me find this deer.
