A major study from the University of Oxford has shown that simply walking more each day could significantly lower your chances of developing cancer. Involving over 85,000 UK adults, the research tracked people's daily step counts using activity trackers and found a strong connection between more movement and less cancer risk. Just 5,000 steps a day started to show benefits, while those who walked 7,000 to 9,000 steps daily saw their cancer risk drop by 11% to 16%. The positive effect seemed to plateau beyond 9,000 steps, suggesting that the total amount of movement matters more than how intense it is.

While faster walking had some impact, it was the overall activity – even at a slow pace – that really made a difference. The study focused on 13 specific cancers, including colon, lung, liver, breast, and bladder. Higher activity was most strongly linked to lower risk in cancers like gastric, liver, and lung. Unlike past studies that depended on self-reporting or focused on intense workouts, this one used wearables for accuracy and showed that light daily movement, like walking, can be enough to protect your health. Scientists say that getting more steps into your day could be one of the easiest ways to reduce your cancer risk.

Jennifer Harris, 39, was a single mom to 6 and had spent the past 15 years working at McDonald's. She was killed this morning after another employee stabbed her 💔
Family members say Jennifer Harris was attacked during her shift at the McDonald’s on 9 Mile Road in Eastpointe Mich. The incident happened just before 8 a.m. Thursday. Police say a dispute broke out between Harris and an employee who had been sent home early. That employee later returned armed with a knife and stabbed Harris multiple times in the face. A customer inside the restaurant witnessed the attack and fired a shot in an attempt to stop it. No one was hit, and the suspect was detained at the scene by that same customer until officers arrived. Harris was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 586-445-9415.

A new study has found that fish can suffer up to 22 minutes of intense pain when taken out of water. According to Science Alert, researchers from the Welfare Footprint Project found that fish, like rainbow trout, experience intense stress and pain when exposed to air. Just five seconds out of water triggers a cascade of physiological distress: oxygen deprivation, CO₂ buildup, and acidification of the blood and brain. This leads to prolonged activation of pain pathways, what scientists call nociception, lasting anywhere from 2 to 25 minutes.

Barbie is launching its first doll with Type 1 diabetes, Mattel announced Tuesday.

The new doll features a continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump, two medical devices that people use, carry or wear when they have Type 1 diabetes, which is a chronic condition where the body doesn't make any or enough of the insulin hormone.

In addition to the doll, Barbie is also introducing two more dolls of Peloton fitness instructor Robin Arzón in the U.S. and model Lila Moss in the U.K., both of whom are Type 1 diabetes advocates.
