I have truly been at a loss for words since learning of the passing of Christina and have taken some time to process this.

I met Christina in college at UAB during a Society of Professional Journalists meeting. I walked in and grabbed a seat. Shortly after, I heard a voice say, “Hi! Come sit with us!” It was Christina, doing what she did so well — being kind.

We talked about where we were from and our professional dreams, both declaring we’d work at WBRC one day. Then we sang the famous slogan from the commercial back in the day: “Cause it’s gotta be, gotta be, gotta be Fox6 Neeeeeewwwwsss!” 😆😂

When I was hired at WBRC in 2019, she said, “You finally made it! Took you long enough!”

She was warm, funny, genuinely interested in people, and most of all, she was kind. She lived well, evident in the outpouring of profound messages of love and memories since her passing.

I pray that this sweet woman has found peace in the arms of God. May we all keep her beautiful son and family lifted in prayer.

She was a “come sit with us” kind of gal. She was special. She will be dearly missed.

Rest well, Christina.

You guys remember “Myrtle,” the poinsettia I bought three years ago? Well… she’s still kicking.

I’m doing everything I can to get her to turn red again, and today I noticed the tips of a few leaves changing.

I put her in a box at night and bring her out during my work shift. Apparently poinsettias need complete darkness and sunshine to turn.

Hopefully she puts on her red party dress in time for Christmas. 🤞🏾

One of my favorite mottos is “Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.” Well… yesterday I was NOT READY. 😓

So…I wasted makeup on my dress and had about 30 minutes to find a replacement. And of course, I’d taken all my dresses out of my car over the weekend. 😩

I ran to the closest clothing store to the WBRC studio that I could think of- Rainbow. I haven’t stepped foot in one since my best friend worked there in college. I grabbed the first thing that looked like it could work for air.

Time is ticking… 45 minutes before the 4:00 news and I’m filling in anchoring. I rush to ask for a fitting room — CLOSED. Now I’m sweating and stressed because I still have to make the show.

On a prayer, I buy the dress and rush back to the station to change. Y’all… I looked like I was headed back to my club Chaos days. All I needed was a blazer and a stack of bangles.

That dress was sooo SHORT!

I have not laughed or scooted through a building that much in my life. 😅

I ended up running to the store after the early shows to grab tights to tone down my accidental 2000s “club wear.”

Note to self: Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

P.S. No I’m NOT posting the pics of that dress without tights on. Smh I’m shamed lol 🤦🏾‍♀️
